Come on, it was not just the fact that the limited Clottey CHOSE TO IGNORE the only two boxing instincts that he possesses.....
* knowing that you can get to your opponent
* knowing that when you do, you can hurt him
But when he had Manny hurt and on the ropes in round 6 (I think it was) and he backed up to the centre of the ring so that Manny could come off the ropes, reset, and start his offense again..... well that was just super-considerate.
Mak, how does that fit into your assessment of the "defence-first" Clottey?
It was the nicest, most polite act, that I have ever seen performed within the squared circle. What a true gentleman Clottey is.
I will say again.....
I have been participating in, and watching boxing, for over 30 years..... and I have only ever seen that happen in the gym between two sparring partners.
Oh wait, I just remembered something....
1.) Clottey's career was over as a top contender, when he showed that he could not even compete with a damaged Miguel Cotto
2.) he landed that fight as a last minute fill-in when the negotiations broke down with Mayweather
3.) Clottey's promoter is that dirty lying skunk Bob Arum, who just happens to have a potential $50mil payday on the back-burner, with Manny vs Mayweather.
Wow, Bob Arum seems to find himself - coincidentally - in the middle of some truly bizarre incident's..... doesn't he now?
Come on guys.
Bob Arum is not gonna piss in my pocket and then tell me it's raining

Clottely got thrown a life-line, but he was not pulled up into the dingy.....
he was used as shark-bait, and most likely received a payday that he clearly did not deserve, and a promise of future fights.
His excuses were truly disgusting, and the funny thing is that he gave an "diahorrea excuse" immediately after the fight, yet did not even mention that amongst a raft of bizarre excuses when interviewed about a week later

I will add those ridiculous comments to this thread when I get home shortly.
