It’s no secret that referee Laurence Cole made a huge mistake as the referee for Juan Manuel Marquez’s last bout on HBO versus Jimrex Jaca.
Late in the fight after an accidental clash of heads that left Marquez with a nasty cut over his eye, Laurence Cole told Marquez that he was ahead on the cards. This has caused a bit of controversy because Cole had no right to tell the fighter he was ahead, and how did he know the score of the contest? This blunder could lead the Texas State of Liscencing and Regulation to suspend Laurence Cole.
I have observed a number of Coles fights and from my observation Cole has been incompetent in a number of bouts. He makes crucial errors in fights and finally he will be held accountable. Referees who make crucial errors yet continue to be assigned big fights are a scar to the game. The same accountability should be applied to judges who score unfavorable decisions. Not only did he tell Marquez he was ahead...notice how this slimy bastard puts his hands over his "mic" because HE KNEW what he was doing....and didn't want anyone else to hear him. Credit to Marquez...for going on even when Larry wanted that fight over for what ever reason. Maybe....he had a little action down in Vegas on the round. lol
The next time we see him on HBO after being suspended....it's a big time fight...and the only one who had the balls to mention anything about the 2006 fight was Larry Merchant who made a comment to the effect...."Wow...hard to believe Laurence Cole is getting rewarded after his last di****able appearance...etc." (Funny how nobody else on HBO's team had **** to say the second time around.... and at least Merchant didn't sell out...and he's right. This guy should have refed during a Primo Canera fight..he's that crooked.
On a side note....when the fight in 2006 was "replayed" they did a cute little edit job on Cole's comments......HBO proved they were ******* and ran and hid rather then admit the ref is a crook....who owns an insurance company in Texas that in fact...insures BOXING.

No need to even comment on his moves in the ring.......and I knew he was the hand picked ref for Pack man vs. Margarito....long before it was announced as should anyone in boxing with half a brain.
This guy is bad for boxing. Anyone who loves this sport...should contact Sir Larry at his "insurance company" and ask how much it cost to insure FRAUD.
Tell them Vegas Vince sent ya.....and FYI.....Jesse Ventura....is considering doing a little episode on just how corrupt this dude and his daddy are.
I love boxing. If you'se peeps love it too.....understand that guys like Cole hurt our sport.
If you care.....let Larry know himself...and good luck getting a claim from him if you're dumb to ever have him insure **** for you......a crook is a crook is a crook....."you're ahead on the scorecards...." Unbelievable.
p.s. I'm going to do an upcoming BTR radio show on this clown....and pray to God his lawyers try and stop me. I'll eat them for lunch just for fun...because frankly I'm sick of this bastard getting big fights.....while honest, good refs get stiffed cuz they aint got the puppet master pulling the strings.

How ironic that HBO is spinning this fight around the controversy of Margarito suspension and/or whether he knew or not etc.
Yet at the same time...they make no mention of Laurence Cole whose own actions clearly prove he's a corrupt crook. Nothing ambiguous about it. And I'm not even going into the numerous blunders he's made in the ring.....which are so numerous we could write a book.
He to was suspended and given a token chump change fine....and yet not one word is discussed about it.
When the very insurance company you OWN underwrites BOXING EVENTS you are a part of.....is the ultimate conflict of interest. Because you now have a VESTED INTERST IN THE OUTCOME.
Why do you think a Laurence Cole continues to get these big fights.....here and overseas despite his reputation....and prior history???
Why do you think WBC President Jose......endorses this man? LMAO
Why is it that every time we hear his name every goes uggggg?
The main stream Boxing press doesn't seem too interested in covering this dude...probably cuz they're afraid of losing the press passes. Sad.
