And what makes Pacquiao so qualified to be a Congressman?

There's people in the Philippines who dedicate their lives trying to become part of Congress, but instead the opportunity goes to a prizefighter based on popularity?

if he's voted in he's voted in. if he does a bad job simple enough he wont get voted back in. its not like he got voted in and he's in there the rest of his life.

I mean, I don't know what manny does in congress so I can't say he is good or bad, but that certainly wouldn't make him a bad one.
You are consistently sensible, something of a rarity these days on this forum.

It's like a college giving out honorary degrees to celebrities.

If the honorary citizenship bill is his most significant piece of legislation, then yeah, he sucks as an elected official. But I seriously doubt that he's going to be working on JUST that during his tenure.

That has nothing to do with it. The point is, he got elected based popularity. Not on qualifications, but on popularity in a sport.

That is wrong. It's like voting for Mike Tyson to become the US President based on his popularity.

              Who the **** cares?

The man is using his position to fight human trafficking, build hospitals, build universities, feed the poor, pay people's expenses, etc a lot of it out of pocket... and you think he's a bad congressman because they'll take 5 min out of the government's time and a couple of pesos to make Freddie Roach a citizen?

Seems like you're just looking for any reason to hate.

Not to mention Jesse 'The Body' Ventura (ex wrestler turned Minnestoa Governor), and now Linda McMahon is running for the Connecticut Senate.

Doesn't change the fact that Pac is doing and will continue to do great things for his people. But of course...
