Is Manny Pacquiao a bad Congressman?

Last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Pacquiao said that he issued a bill to make Freddy Roach a citizen of the Philippines.

Like seriously, what the hell? There's more important issues out there rather than to do favors for his buddies.

Now, his next duty is to give a cheater a multi-million dollar payday.

    What were Filipinos thinking?

All the news sites say it was Pacquiao who introduced the bill. Unless you can prove otherwise..

At the end of the day, Pacquiao should be helping the people of the Philippines. Not doing a favor for a buddy of his from another country.

      This is an outrage.

didn't pac say in his interview that he didn't introduce the bill?

it's not a favor. what does roach need to be a philippine citizen for?

        it's an honorary thing.

That interview was in English and we all know Pacquiao doesn't speak English that well.

So what are we going to believe? Paquiao saying that in a language in which he's known to make a lot of mistakes, or him saying that he DID introduce the bill HIMSELF in his native language?

Pacquiao joins fight against human trafficking

MANILA, Philippines - World boxing champion and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao has joined the nationwide crusade against human trafficking and expressed willingness to be a spokesman for the campaign to stop the scourge that victimizes mostly the poor.

Pacquiao was among the personalities and officials who attended the high-level dialogue between leaders in government and civil society groups on the problem of human trafficking yesterday at the G Hotel on Roxas Boulevard in Manila.

Pacquiao said he would personally write the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and urge them to allocate more financial resources to fund government and civil society groups in the fight against human trafficking.

“We need a budget allocation for an all-out war against human trafficking,” said Pacquiao in his message to the forum entitled “A Dialogue on Human Trafficking between Civil Society and Leaders in Government.”

            The People's Champion

When I spoke to him as he was readying for his fight against Margarito, he was just as interested in talking about his legislative agenda as he was his upcoming match. He told me about his plans to build a hospital and a college in his province, and about the two bills he has already passed. He was particularly proud of his work fighting human trafficking. “Lots of recruiters recruit Filipinos abroad, but when [the workers] get there, they don’t have any salary,” Pacquiao says. When asked if other politicians had underestimated him, he laughs. “I am very active in Congress,” he says, “and they didn’t think I was going to be like that.”

A deeply religious man, Pacquiao has a kind of devotion to his people unseen in most politicians. Out of his own pocket, he has paid for medical and funeral expenses for the poverty-stricken in the southern Philippines. Many of his associates worry that he will give all his money away. Some people have compared him to Nelson Mandela.

And he's only been on the job a handful of months. This man is doing things for his people that transcend sport, stop the hate.

honorary citizenships or dual citizenships have existed for a long time.

I mean, I don't know what manny does in congress so I can't say he is good or bad, but that certainly wouldn't make him a bad one.

I admit that those are great things, if they're true. But he still does some very unprofessional things.

Introducing a bill for his foreign friend? Like seriously.. what good is that gonna do?
