It was cool the first time I read it and it was still alright the second and third times since he brought in some new stuff, but after Greenberg went on a rampage about Hauser it has just been recycled bull**** mixxed in with an overly negative view.

Judging by the replys I am glad I didnt take my time to read it.

          part 3 is up.

There’s an issue at HBO that runs deeper than Pacquiao-Mayweather and the list of fights that the network will televise next year. For the first time, there are people inside HBO and the hierarchy at Time Warner (HBO’s parent company) who are asking whether HBO actually needs a sports department.

So I've read one and two of this and a lot of it is just loads of ****. I'm going to be arguing throughout this thread. Here it goes:

In recent years, HBO has consistently come up short in identifying young fighters with the potential to become both true champions in the ring and marketable outside it. Berto, Angulo, and Dawson have already been referenced. Chris Arreola, Victor Ortiz, Robert Guerrero, and Danny Jacobs stumbled. Now the network is said to be pushing a fight between Tomasz Adamek and Wladimir Klitschko in the hope of breathing life into the heavyweight division.

There are some extremely entertaining fights involving Tomasz Adamek that HBO could televise. Adamek against Klitschko is not one of them. It would be one-sided beat down
So Hauser blasts HBO for spending uncessary amounts of money, but then says he would like to see Adamek not fight the best heavyweights in the world, but some of the bums he is fighting now. Adamek vs Haye would be the only one I could think of that could be ok for HBO, but I'd much rather see Adamek vs Vitali then Adamek vs Haye.

Some fights need to happen Hauser with big exposure. Wlad vs Adamek could be one of those. It's a great showcase with lots of energy from the fans.
But sources say that Haymon has influence beyond the skills of his fighters and that it comes from a series of personal alliances as well as his ability to assist in providing talent for HBO entertainment specials.
Haymon seems to be a shady guy, but what sources? I hate this phrase and so many journalists use it. This does not prove your point. I'll take actual quotes from Greenburg over sources. Hauser's sources have been wrong before too (see: HBO cutting budget last year when that wasnt confirmed)

                This was for part 1

It's like nobody has a brain working these networks. U got the 2 largest boxing networks, FINALLY showing some Saturday fights, both with really good fights(Shotime, GREAT FIGHT), and they are competing on the same night. Wtf is that? Seriously, are they fans? Why do they do this to us..?

pfft its a bunch of hauser suppositions and hyperbole...and the comments from other promoters.......what Schaefer said about DiBella applies to most of them....

and if they had the money-relationships GBP has cultivated, they would do the same..

It never made sence to me why they don't do more boxing in the summer, I understand not doing huge fights since Vegas sucks in the summer but to not keep building momentum on previous fights is just such a waste. Plus during the summer the sporting shedule is much lighter so boxing should be able to do fine.

I also never got why HBO fucks with Showtime on their dates, in one regard it makes sence since they should be worried about what they are doing more so than Showtime but to program like that on purpose is just being lame.
