Comments Thread For: Giovanni Segura-Ivan Calderon Deal Reached For 4/23

Ricky Mota, manager of WBA junior flyweight world champion Giovanni Segura, and Peter Rivera of Puerto Rico Best Boxing, promoter of former world champion Ivan Calderon, reached an agreement to stage a Segura-Calderon rematch on the tentative date of April 23 in Puerto Rico, the location of the first meeting. Segura stopped Calderon back in August, handing the Puerto Rican fighter the first loss of his pro career.

Segura will end it even faster this time.

Calderon couldn't handle that pressure, and Segura will just have even more confidence now.

Glad 2 see Calderon wants 2 get revenge. Unless he completely underestimated Segura, idk what changes in the game plan he can make. He boxed well and when he traded with him, he landed some flush shots but Ivan has no pop what so ever in his punches. He got caught up on the ropes, that he can try 2 not let happen again. Better try 2 cover up that body 2.

Lol @ being on PR again. I don't think Calderon can do anything different for this fight. The ring was as big as they get. I see another TKO before the 10th.

Pointless rematch, it wasn't even close, however I tip my hat off to Segura, what a champ, and again willing to do it over the Island. Calderon gets KO'd faster this time, he's got no pop and no more legs.

i don't see the point in a rematch,he beat him good,he should have just gone after chocolatito, that will be a great fight,or go after another champion,he should fight guys who are champs now, undefeated ranked fighters,no point in a rematch,or atleast have calderon become a champion again like going after the wbc belt and then unify, thats the only way a rematch would make sense

Calde should retire or move down in weight. Doubt he can beat Segura.

Props to Calderon for trying to avenge his loss. Going to be a tough night for him imo but if he pulls it off he should be highly credited by all boxing fans. One of the best in the lower weight divisions.
