Comments Thread For: Kelly Pavlik Injured, Withdraws From Pacquiao Card

Former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik has suffered a rib injury in training and notified the necessary parties that he is unable to move forward with his scheduled fight with Brian Vera on the Manny Pacquiao-Antonio Margarito card on November 13 in Cowboys Stadium in Texas. Pavlik was going to face Vera at a catch-weight of 164-pounds in what might have been a springboard to a March showdown with IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute. Canadian scribe Angel Fernandez first reported the story on Pavlik's injury.

But the price of the PPV will stay the same even if you aren't going to get the same product.

Now that Pavlik has dropped off the undercard Flop Stank will have to scramble for more controversy. This fiasco is hilarious.

              Another Flop Stank Boxing extravaganza.

Maybe Pavlik pulled out because they are already seeing this Nov 13th promotion go down the toilet already.

Top Rank should replace Pavlik with Matt Korobov. Have him fight Bryan Vera. I think Korobov is just as good right now as Pavlik is. Lets see what he has, plus he has been in the gym training for another fight in November. Cancel that fight and move him up here. It would be great exposure for him.

If not then I guess, you can move the Benavidez fight to the televised portion. Have that 8 rounder, which I don't think it would go the distance, starting off the PPV.

In the perfect World, Top Rank would do both. And, have a 5 fight show. But, I know they won't.

Good idea but would Korobov take a fight with Vera on 2 weeks notice? I disagree with Korobov being as good as Pavlik at this point i saw him fight live in one of his more recent fights and he was taken to the brink by a journeyman and was bothered by pressure.

Bring in Andy Lee and do the Vera rematch.
