this is JoeZagz (or Soir if you like) thesisTo qoute Byrd himself,"we're in the pain game",and he's right!
Vitali was never came close to knocking Byrd out as Byrd was making him miss his punches so often.Injuries like the one Vitali got will happen when you spend so much time missing punches.Same thing happened to Sonny Liston against Ali the 1st time they fought.
I think it makes sense
so in a way, Byrd contributed to the injury, hence to the quitting, hence to the tko victoryLast edited by Tiozzo; 10-29-2010, 08:02 PM.Comment

I read a somewhat recent interview of Byrd on Eaassttsssiiddee... and Byrd gives credit to himself for that win because Vitali QUIT ON HIS OWNByrd didn't receive a beating so to speak but lost nearly every round, VK had a freak injury or maybe he even had it before the fight who knows?? A guy isn't just going to quit when he is near certain victory with no threat of losing for no reason.
Also its a paper win for Byrd, I am sure its something he doesn't even credit himself with as all he did was be in the right place at the right time and manange not to get KTFO.
he said, you can't quit, you don't quit, and that's what Vitali did, he quit, somethign Byrd has never done, even when he took terrible beatings (I know Vitali had an injury, different thing, but he quit nevertheless)
you can find it easy if you look for it I guess
and I would add Byrd did more than to manage not to get KTFO against Vitali, he fought very courageously, made Vitali miss and landed almost as many punches (although his punches didn't have much of an impact)Last edited by Tiozzo; 10-29-2010, 08:04 PM.Comment

Exactly.
Vitali Klitschko vs Lennox Lewis
THE TRUTH
Vitali took the fight on just 10 days notice.
Vitali was clearly winning the fight 4-2 on all 3 scorecards at the time of the controversial doctor stoppage. Lewis was badly hurt and was staggering around the ring like a drunk, he barely survived the 2nd round. Lewis was getting outboxed, outworked, outlanded and was hurt several times in the fight.
punches landed
Vitali 156
Lewis 102
Lewis was exhausted, worn down and hurt from the accumulation of punches and was ready to get KTFO again, he collapsed onto his stool at the end of the 6th round, Vitali was the fresher of the two, he was a man on a mission and would've KO'd Lewis for sure if the fight had continued.
All the fans at Staples Center cheered for Vitali and booed Lewis after the fight.
Lewis promised Vitali a rematch.
Vitali destroyed Kirk Johnson in 2 rounds and called out Lewis again in the post fight interview. The scared Lewis retired shortly after that fight.
Lewis turned down 30 million dollars for a rematch and retired like a coward because he knew he would get destroyed by Vitali.
Vitali dominated Lewis and scared his bitch ass into retirement.

George Foreman: "Vitali was winning the fight. Lewis got lucky. There has to be a rematch!"
Jim Lampley: "A lucky escape for Lewis who was clearly losing the fight"
Even Emanuel Steward was upset and pissed off at Lewis for blatantly ducking a Vitali rematch.
Lewis is scared to death of Vitali.Comment

Vitali got a freak injury in the 2nd round and he still dominated Byrd.
One-armed Vitali dominated Bryd.
Wlad destroyed Byrd twice.Comment

Whether you like it or not, Vitali Klitschko is going to the HOF. Apparently he'll be elected by clowns.Vitali is the most overrated HW today. John Ruiz has a better resume than this clown yet somehow he's riding his brother's coattails and a beatdown from Lennox. Whenever you feel down, go on boxrec, look at his record and then remember there are clowns out their who think he's a HOFer.
