Cartagena de Indias, Colombia - The president of the WBO, Paco Valcárcel, announced at the WBO's 23rd annual convention that there are ongoing negotiations, between promotional companies Zanfer and All Star Boxing, for WBO super bantamweight champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (20-0, 17KOs) to defend his title against Jorge Arce (55-6, 42KOs), who plans to vacate his WBO super flyweight title due to weight difficulties. This fight has more to do with Arce than Vazquez. Arce has said many times that this was gonna be his last year and he wants to try for another belt in a new weight class before he goes and it looks like the powers that be are trying to accommodate for him to get his shot.

It'd be nice if somehow Arce could pick it up and ride off into the sunset, but he's in way over his head
