The guy was practically 40 years old and coming off of two straight losses to a career light heavyweight.

and why are you pitting a prime Tyson against an old Vitali?

    Prime vs prime.

Old Vitali is much smarter in the ring and throws more punchers than he did in his "prime".

Maybe so but if 1987 Tyson were facing the competition the Brothers are facing he would look awesome as well. Imagine young Mike in there with old Shannon Briggs who looked so slow and old. How did he even last 12 rounds with Wladimer?

and yet, younger Vit was still knocking fools silly. Mostly all fighters get smarter as they age so I'm not really understanding your point.

The fact that Chris Byrd was actually a legit contender a couple of years ago shows how horrible this division has been. A heavyweight punching as hard as a 147 pounder was a contender.

Dude, I already explained to you the competition is damn near the same.

How did Bonecrusher Smith last 12 with Mike? He was in his mid 30s, looked slow and old, so, how did he last the distance?

You're really not seeing how similar their careers are in regards to their competition.

The glaring difference is, is one guy stayed focused while the other lived wildly and his career suffered for it.

My point is old Vitali would have a better chance at beating Tyson than younger one. Younger Vitali would try and go toe to toe with Tyson while older Vitali wouldn't, he would fight a more defensive minded fight and try to wear him down.

The fact that Michael Spinks, a career light heavyweight champion,

became heavyweight champion speaks volumes about the competition back then.

Its so funny that you guys are failing to see how similar the eras really are. The difference is, one was glamorized by the exciting style of an american champion, and one is **** on because its ruled by a foreigner whos style isn't so fan friendly, even though he produces even more knockouts.

Don't get me wrong, I loved watching Mike back then like everyone else, but you guys are rewriting history in regards to the talent pool of his era.

Gotcha, either way, I'd bet on Vitali by KO.

You mean the difference is Tyson was earning a lot more money which led to potential chillin and relaxing to much. Plus he grew up different so giving Tyson 100 million and he's from the hood you knows he's gonna act up.

My point is ppl make it seem like both brothers just blow Tyson away when how can you really judge when the division is weak. Most of your potential great heavyweights are playing TE in football, linebacker, defensive end.

The NFL has a ton of guys who are in the 6-5 255 range and athletic running 4.6 in the 40. They just decided to play a different sport.

We do know if you reach that Wladimer Chin he goes to sleep

                      Excuses,

thats all you're doing and they all fall short.

All of that **** about money is nobodies fault but his own.

That garbage about the best heavyweights being in the NFL is complete horse****. Its the typical excuse americans use to feel better about being lame ducks in the heavyweight division. Just because a guy is big and athletic, doesn't mean he can take a punch to the jaw. If they were great fighters, they would have been great fighters. Instead, they turned out to be great football players.

Yea, we know that about Wlads chin,

                      but this is about Vitali.
