Define Meaningful? Is it the best fight that could have been made for the vacant belt? Why hell no... HOWEVER, both Pac and Margarito are both top super welter weight boxers, around number 1-3, and 7-9th, respectively... it is legit enough... These days with the kind of mentality boxers and promotors have, this is actually a pretty good fight. The size disparity, and styles of both fighters should make it fun to watch. We are lucky to see a top guy fight a journeyman or gatekeeper... Of course I'd rather see Pac fight someone like Williams or Martinez... But, ****, that ain't gonna happen, at least not now... For the same reasons why none of the other top, young champs fight the best - the best usually are not financially the "best"...

I agree that money talks and the reason this fight is for a title is because the WBC wants money. But rather than think it's "good enough" I'd rather demand better.

I want him to stay at 147 and not go above.

But he could fight Martinez if he beats Paul which will definitly be at 155. Sergio offered 155 to angulo so he will have no problem with pac

              List of Current LMW Champions
              WBA- Miguel Cotto
              WBO- Sergey Dzindziruk
              IBF- Cornelius Bundrage
              WBC- Vacant

Antonio Margarito is ranked as the #1 contender by both the WBA and WBC.

Pacquiao already squashed the WBA champion just a year ago and if he was fighting him again, a current title holder, you'd complain. If he fought nobodies like Bundrage and Dzindziruk, you'd whine about how he's cherry picking and fighting easy competition, and TR/HBO would be taking a HUGE financial risk. Like it or not, Tony is the first in line for the WBC belt since he is the #1 contender for a vacant belt. Don't hate the fighters for what the ranking organizations decide.

There's no scenario that ends without you complaining or whining about what Pac is doing. It's a no-win situation with people like you. He could fight both the Klitschkos at the same time while they wear headgear and Pac is required to wear 18 oz gloves and you'd still complain about something.

Let go of the hate, it should be an entertaining, bloody battle for as long as it lasts

How is that when Pac never fought at SWW and Tony hasn't beaten anyone of note in the weight class and his only recent win was against a journeymen?

Its a fine fight don't get me wrong and the catch weight doesn't really matter but lets not pretend this make either of these guys a top 10 SWW automatically if he wins.

Red Menace - fair enough... I guess I should demand better, I've just gotten so used to bull****... Haha Ive gotten lazy and complacent...

Spray Res. - Top 10? They are both already top to SWW... Name me someone aside from martinez (who is currently rated at MW) who should be ranked higher than manny? Williams? MAYBE. . . I still wouldn't rate Williams over Pac, though... Lets see who else at 154... Cintron, Angulo - potentially dangerous opponents that could beat manny, but still shouldn't be ranked higher then manny... Cotto? Oh yeah, Cotto ran to 154 because Pac beat him lol... Vanes Mart - HAH....

They should at the very least have to beat someone decent to get a top 10 rating in another weight class. Not only has neither of them done that but Manny had never even fought there, since Manny is possibly the best WW and Marg was a top WW and they were given a top 10 rating at SWW why stop there? maybe a top 15 rating at MW automatically too? Top 20 SMW even?

They have to fight the fights and we can't just presume they are better than any top 10-15 rated fighter in a particular division without them having proved they can be competitive in the division with someone good who is custom to fighting there.
