Well, against Cotto, for instance, when he "uses his length", putting that left out there to herd his guy to the ropes, he's still getting nailed repeatedly in the face by a smaller man with arms that are comparatively T-Rex like. That's what I see. If you're using length effectively, even to set up offense as opposed to using it defensively, you shouldn't be getting hit that freely in the teeth.

Describe to me what it is you see Margarito doing specifically, then I'll go and watch (if you give me a fight to refer to).

I'm making a distinction between a physical presence per se (and I think he has a domineering one in the last era of the welterweight division) and using height/length as an advantage.

No, I didn't mean you. I was referring to sundry posters I can't name off the top of my head and just a general sentiment thrown out there by groups of Pacquiao fans.

Then he's obviously been in two minds on the issue and we've read different posts. I'd find it if I could, but just in the last 2 or 3 days I read him saying he wasn't giving anything to Pac for this one.

As for the issue of what credit Pac would receive for icing Margarito, it's just a difficult one to call going in because Tony's worth, at this point, is a real question-mark from a few angles. We know he's all heart, and that'll help him stay on his feet and take a beating, but does he come with anything that can win him even a minute of a round in this fight?

FWIW, my take on Pacquiao through all recent controversies (re. PED's, catchweights) and criticisms of opponent selection is,

that he's doing as much as he's doing, with the kind of pressure he shoulders, is extraordinary just in itself.

But, in a pure boxing history sense, everything still needs to be gotten into a rational perspective.

I don't know if he has those my point is this.

But, I honestly don't think IF Marg can pull off the major upset. I don't think it will be just cuz of size.

My point to Burner was that, he thinks Marg is shot, ruined, chin cracked, no power cuz of the Garcia fight, tailor made for Pac, slow, come forward. But, if he wins nobody can mention size as being a factor.

Then my question is how can it not be a factor then. If what Burner says is true. And, Marg doesn't have any of that going for him. Then the only thing he does have is size going for him. So if he does win how can that not be a factor?

That is my point and that is where I am coming from.

If Marg has anything left, I know what he brings to the table. And, I know that you're a fan of his aswell. So I know that you know what Marg can bring to the table.

So that is why I always felt. That is it a BS type fight? Yes it is, does Marg deserve it? No he doesn't. Would it be entertaining? I think so, FOTY candidate material just cuz I know what Marg is capable of.

          • Burner your e stamina is amazing fighting off all these *******s who try so desperately to discredit mosley as an opponent because floyd dominated him even though the very man they are trying to hype up is the cheater that got beat by a senior citizen. double standards, hatred, and clear and blatant refusal of facts and logic when it comes to cherry picking of a man that was utterly and completely dominated by the old man they try to discredit at every turn. they defeat themselves at every turn. truth always prevails over liars so let them be... tonight anyways.

I think I said, Pac doesn't get credit for the 8th title, that he should not be called a champ in 8 divisions. And, whoever the winner is should not be called a JMW champ just because neither has done anything in that division. And, a win still means they haven't done anything in that division to be called champ.

So no Pac doesn't get credit for being a 8 division champ. Nor do I think a win no matter how impressive does anything for Pac legacy. Just because of the way Marg is percieved as being a cheater and overrated and what not.

It is just what it is.

Depending on how Marg looks yes Pac should deserve credit for the win. Not a lot of credit but some. But, would it do anything for his legacy or history? No not at all.

Can Pac claim FOTY with a dominant win? No he can not. I don't even think he could be a candidate and would still fall behind Floyd this year. And, I don't even think Floyd is FOTY. What I am saying a win over Marg proves nothing really. But, depending how Marg looks then yes he does deserve some but not a lot.

It would be nothing to brag about.

Yeah, I knew what you were saying.

It's best not to assume what we don't yet know for sure about Tony at this point in his career.

I just wish Marg would of had at least one more fight agaisnt a higher caliber than Garcia just to have a better understanding at where he is at, at this point of his career.

Just too many question marks right now. And, it sucks....

I find it adds an intrigue and will make the fight more exciting for some of us if it turns out competetive.

In terms of trying to justify the fight being made, yeah, it sucks.
