Richardson's award is overdue...the man has been an asset to the sport for years. I for one enjoy his contribution to the sport with his character alone. His work ethic and compassion during training and the fight shines. He has my vote as trainer of the year!

What has he done as a trainer so far?
Maybe, if B-hop beats Pascal? Maybe, but so far he hasn't done anything this year to become trainer of the year. Emmanuel Steward IMO is ahead of the class this year.
However, in years past, then yes I can see it. But, not this year.

I believe Richardson deserves an award for his contributions for the sport of boxing...you are correct that he hasn't won many "notable fights" this year and I am inclined to agree with you that Emmanuel Steward would have a realistic chance over Richardson.
However, Richardson has added more value, ethically, than any other trainer, IMO. Here is why:
His dilligence before a fight is paramount, as he does his job to train and protect his fighters in Hopkins vs Trinidad, and in Mosley vs Margarito.
His character and values: the guy is devoted to training, building, and support his fighter. Not only does he offer technical support in the corner, he provides that "pep" talk a fighter would need to get over a block.
Thanks for the correction - you're right. He deserves more than a "trainer of the year" award.

"the way Picasso may have looked favorably on a Monet"
I did read in between the lines while reading this part.
He named himself the Picasso.. the better painter from both and to be honest I agree.
****m is the better trainer from the pair.

And, there were no elements of plaster in Tito wraps like they were in Marg wraps.
