  • Pacquiao- Does he fight guys coming off losses, or guys with the most to prove?

Hatton: Had his first loss to Mayweather. But everytime a fighter loses for the first time, if he's on a championship level, they come back harder than ever. He was looking sharper and more determined than ever on his fights coming from the mayweather loss, and he completely dominated Malignaggi- an extremely skilled technical boxer who was supposed to give him loads of trouble because of hatton's undisciplined, raw style. And then He gets a shot with Pacquiao- the pound for pound greatest fighter in the world, who, if he beats, makes up for the loss against Mayweather and makes him regain his status as one of the greatest junior welterweights of his time. Who if he lost against, would mean his career would have been close to over. You don't think Hatton trained harder for this fight than he's ever trained?

Cotto: Had his first questionable loss against Margarito, but he never gave up- he was completely determined to get back to what he used to be. He beat jennings and had a poor showing against Clottey, but Clottey cut him bad early, yet he refused to give up. He ignored the pain and fought through it, even though Clottey is a no-name opponent. Then comes Pacquiao, the biggest current superstar in boxing and a chance to make up for his loss against Margarito and to show the world that he was better than what he showed against Jennings and Clottey. Who if he lost against, would mean his career would be close to over. You don't think he trained harder for this fight than he's ever trained? Not only that but he put on a spectacular performance against yuri foreman- A long, slippery and tricky technical boxer that was supposed to give him trouble. Cotto is lightyears away from being shot.

Margarito: Lost his superstar status when he got caught with illegal handwraps, and lost against Mosley after he accomplished everything he's dreamed of and is the champion he always wanted to be, but had everything threatened that night because obviously he knows what happens to fighters who cheat- they get thrown out of the sport a la Resto. And now comes Pacquiao, undoubtedly the biggest superstar in the sport at the moment, giving him a chance to prove that his entire career was not a farce, but that he's a clean fighter. A champion always thinks of himself as the best, or else he wouldn't train so hard or dedicate so much of his life to become who he is. If Margarito beats Pacquiao, then all doubts are put to rest, and he can make his claim as the best welterweight of his time, but if he loses, would mean his career is COMPLETELY over. You don't think he's training harder than he's ever trained for this fight?

Make your own judgements, and don't do it based off of how much you dislike Pacquiao.

If you're so intelligent and know everything there is to know about boxing, then obviously I'm not talking to you. I'm talking to the people that aren't perfect and who keep claiming Pacquiao only fights shot fighters- you know the people and posts I see on here every time I log on.

Clottey SD close loss against Cotto
            Cotto SD win against Clottey
Hatton coming off a win against Paulie
Delaquitter coming a win against Forbes

What are you trying to get at...?

If you wanna say Cotto and Hatton were damaged goods after their 1 loss to Margarito and Hattons loss to Floyd then what about Shane Moselys 5 losses and Marquez's 4 losses before Floyd fought them?

Again, what are you trying to get at?

Exactly, so why make another thread about the same topic.

Nobody is going to change their mind and you will get the exact same answers in this thread as you saw in those other 1000 threads

I pretty much repeated what I was trying to get at 3 times

Open minded people make decisions based of whatever perspective seems best to them at the time. If they read my post, then they can gain my perspective and gain a better view of the issue as a whole. And if nobody reads my post then you're right and this is a waste of time.

Only people who are perfect or delusional never change their minds.

It doesn't matter how hard Margarito trains, he can't magically change his brawling style into Marquez/Floyd boxing style in 3 months. Margarito's style is tailor-made for Pacquiao, because he is a head first brawler who doesn't mind eating punches to land his own punches.

Margarito is just a bigger version of David Diaz, and Diaz looked ripped and bigger then Pacquiao but fight night it was Pacquiao who dominated.
