History will look favorably on Wladimir, especially if he caps off his career with a win over Haye. He's got everything you want in a great champion. He bounced back from early losses, showed enough maturity to adapt his style and established a lengthy, dominant reign. Quite frankly, despite the mediocre quality of opposition, he's underrated.

Muhammad Ali - Arguably beat every Heavyweight of his time during the golden era of the sport where he fought other ATG Heavyweights

Joe Louis - Holds the record for defenses, not in the strongest era but it's probably better than the current one, has a few big wins over Schmeling, Walcott, Baer, Conn, Braddock, Sharkey

Larry Holmes - Incredible jab and longevity, has wins over Shavers, Norton, an old Ali, Berbick, Leon Spinks, Cooney, Witherspoon, 'Bonecrusher' Smith, Mercer.

George Foreman - Has wins over Frazier, Norton, Cooney, Qawi, Moorer, (should have one over Briggs. The biggest accomplishment is the time in-between accomplishments.

Lennox Lewis - Fought in the strongest era since the Ali era, wins over an aged Tyson, Holyfield, Briggs, Mercer, Ruddock, Klitschko, Rahman, McCall, Tua, Botha, Grant, Golota, Akinwande, Morrison, Bruno. Beat everyone he ever faced.

Jack Dempsey - Incredible champion, one of the first swarming type boxers you can get that by reading his book (it's out of print now but reading excerpts of it show he a boxing genius far ahead of his time) respectable wins over the top contenders of the day (remember they didn't have 4 champions in each division so a top contender may aswell be considered a win over a fellow champion)

Rocky Marciano - Pretty poor era with a few notable wins over slightly past prime but good competition, obviously his biggest claim is his record and he fought the best contenders of the time.

Evander Holyfield - Wins over a Prime Tyson, Bowe, Mercer, Holmes, Foreman, Douglas, Thomas, Dokes, Ruiz, Rahman along with his incredible Cruiserweight resume.

Mike Tyson - Probably the least deserving on the list because of the short period of time he dominated but some big wins which everyone knows etc.

Other guys I'd rate over the Klitschkos are Gene Tunney, Jack Johnson maybe even Liston.

I hate how ppl always try to list ATGs in chronological order and come up with subjective reasons why they belong over someone else. You just pick what you like out of their careers for whatever reason you want to look for and say this is why this fighter is better than this fighter, anyone could do that with any great fighter.

I prefer to just say both brothers are among the best HWs who ever fought and to deny this is to show some personal bias against them for reasons other than what they put out in the ring.

gotta remember Haye is in his prime rightnow. Briggs and Peter werent. No way it gets stopped. Id bet ANYTHING that its going the distance.
I'm taking a wild guess that you have never watched David Haye fight.
