    Catchweight are very good.

In a current climate of the sport with boxers choosing every excuse to not make a fight happen.

Catchweight at least gives the sport more possibilities of making more fights.

True but can't you just picture them (Floyd fans) saying that Margo was weight drained because his prior fight was at 154 .... Manny loses either way!

In my mind, while I didn't like the catchweight either, I see it as a stepping stone for Manny. If Manny fights Margo at 147 he may never move up to 154. Instead, if Manny looks good against Margo then he may challenge someone like an Angulo or Martinez IF Floyd is still on vacation. If he actually beats that next level then it would be unlikely for even the critics to discount Manny's achievements at that level.

i don't take *****'s opinions too seriously. If they fought at the 147 limit, margarito will not be affected. Margarito is a welterweight period.

          whitaker- Chavez
          hopkins- pavlik

on the top of my head. point is, it isn't too easy for the smaller guys to beat these bigger guys as pac makes it seem.
with the exception of Chavez-Whitaker which officially ended in a draw the better fighter (Hopkins) ended up winning.

well it varies from fight to fight, I mean DLH used a CW to fight Hopkins and lost. And vs Cotto going into the fight Pacquiao had pretty much every advantage and the only real edge Cotto had was the size, which was taken away a bit by the 145 catchweight.

I mean why does the pound for Pound #1 needs a catchweight too, on top of all the advantages he already holds vs Cotto? .. that's why I call it lame/pathetic

and again my issue with it, is that Pacquiao seems to select catchweights for higher risk opponents

on paper Cotto seemed a tougher fight, so team Pac uses a 145 catchweight

then next fight vs Clottey, who on paper is a much less risky fight no mention of a catchweight what so ever

I mean doesn't that tell you right there that Team Pacquiao is specifically using this catchweight as an extra advantage?

sure yeah some people say "a couple pounds don't make that big a difference"

but how is that the case, when team Pacquiao go through the trouble of adding in a specific CW in the first place?

point is, it isn't much of a factor cause the bigger guy almost always wins even if he has to lose a few pounds.

and cotto was not affected by the catchweight so your point is moot. margarito will also not be affected by the catch weight.

the age of the internet make us know every detail of the fight, and therefore we can ***** about every little damn thing...
