"Taylor steps in for Hopkins to do the right thing!

August 09, 2005 - PRESS RELEASE: The new undisputed middleweight champion of the world, Jermain Taylor, has stepped in to assist the American Cancer Society following a snub of the charity by former champ Bernard Hopkins. Hopkins recently asked that The Ring withhold recognition of Taylor as middleweight champion and continue to recognize Hopkins. When The Ring refused the request, Hopkins refused to keep an earlier promise to a Ring Magazine staff member to sign a pair of gloves for an American Cancer Society fundraiser. In the presence of more than one person, Hopkins stated, "#%&* the American Cancer Society. Get Jermain Taylor to sign them." No problem! When Taylor, the favorite son of Little Rock, Arkansas, learned of the situation, he readily agreed to donate an autographed glove and trunks to aid the charity. "I will do everything I can to help the American Cancer Society," said Taylor. "It's a great cause and a great charity." -www.**********.net

I would still be a fan of him as a fighter but as person he would lose alot of respect from me.

I'm sure he will say that this story isn't true, you never know with the media, they do make up alot of **** on athletes. So I will like to see him say something, before I call him a lowlife.

I'm sure it was just comments that he would take back, I mean he was just pissed off about the outcome. If you watch a lot of interviews on Hopkins he seems like a really nice guy (unless you piss him off) and he is pretty damn intelligent.

I was just about to make a thread about this. Bernard is a great fighter and a hard core mutha but its true what alot of people say about him. He's a no good ass whole sometimes.

What he said about this and what he did to Bouie sucks and he's got to stop treating people like that

Hes pissed he lost and takes it out on those who were simply asking for something that would mean so little to him but so much to them.

Bitchkins - thats a new one to me seeing as his name is Hopkins there is little similarity but yeah ill go along with that .

Its good of Jermain to do that.

Now lets all sit back and hope Bernard Hopkins dies of Cancer, that would make my day.

Hopkins believed he was bigger than the sport when really he was far from it,he was a bully and is a bitter man now that hes lost.Hes also terribly over rated as a fighter,he didnt beat nobody apart from 'name' welterweights moving up to fight him.Im glad hes been dethroned,he was only a caretaker champion.
