  • Comments Thread For: Vitali Klitschko-Shannon Briggs Early Results From Hamburg

In a few short hours, WBC Vitali Klitschko (40-2, 38KOs) will make the fifth defense of his title against former WBO champion Shannon Briggs (51-5-1, 45KOs). Klitschko won the title in October 2008 with an eight round stoppage of then champion Samuel Peter. A large crowd is expected at the O2 World Arena in Hamburg, Germany. Briggs has stopped his last four opponents, all in the first round, since coming back to boxing in December 2009 after a two-year layoff. One of those knockouts were changed to a no-contest after Briggs failed a post-fight drug test in New York City.

One of the worst beat downs in a while.

Vitali threw probably 1000 punches and briggs took like 500 of them.

Should've been stopped but to be honest, i enjoyed that

Give Briggs credit. He was absolutely destroyed but went the distance, and though he didn't win a round, he really didn't look half bad in the first 5 rounds of the fight. When he was hurt badly and saved by the bell was really the end for him.

I enjoyed that is well and have to give Briggs props for being gracious in defeat (some times it takes a good beating to teach respect and Vitaly did that to Briggs).

A beat down from opening bell to closing. Though gotta give Briggs respect for showing that hes all heart in this fight.
