The reason everybody hates Oscar "The Golden Boy" De la Hoya is simple...
....theyre haters. Hes the only fighter who fights when he wants, who he wants and for whatever amount he wants. Hes beat plenty of future HOFers and P4P greats including Mosley and Trinidad(I dont care what the score cards read) and he made the mistake of fighter who wanted to achieve greatness by campaining at 160 when he shouldnt have. The fact is he has had a better career financially and competitively than Mosley and Tito, and hes never been blown out the ring the way Tito(twice!) and Mosley have. Hes had a successful music career(I dont see the difference between this and boxer/rappers except DHL sold records) and has a successful and growing Promotion Company. As for the people who say "Oh he whines too much!" you guys are the ones whining about him! And he handled the robbery against Tito with nothing but class, he bit his lip and showed good sportsmanship even after they just robbed him blind. And for those whining about how he took some decisions to court......Of course he did they were robberies! We live in USA! we have a great judicial system you dont like the fact you dispute decisions then watch boxing in Russia of Korea or something! Oscar De la Hoya is P4P the best boxer of the last 10 years anybody that says hes over rated must think Tito, Mosely, Quartey, Vargas, Chavez and Whitaker were overated too cause he beat all of them.

Too be honest I basicly dislike him for this and his fight against Felix Sturm.

And I always thought he was a little overrated. I never bought his "everbodies darling" gimmick either.

But he had some positive impact on the sport and achieved some great things which is sth. you can't take away from him.
