Because he is a great boxer, rich, successful and good looking. It's called tall poppy syndrome. How can you hate someone who is a bad ass mo'fo' in the ring, has won championships in multiple weight classes and has never ducked anyone?

Oscar could have achieved more if he hadnt gone into promotion, but even so,most fighters that were in their prime then when oscar was, have ended up with their careers halfway in the toilet,or have tried to follow his example, that he isnt appreciated more is ridiculous, few people achive the status that ODLH achieved in boxing.

His biggest fights were usually disappointments, & it was his overly tactical & tentative approach that was the main reason.

He gave a rematch to Julio Cesar Chavez, a fighter who did not deserve a rematch.
Where were the rematches with Quartey & Whitaker ?
He only rematched Mosley AFTER Mosley tumbled back to earth after his two losses to Forrest.
He fought Vargas after Vargas took a prolonged & frightening beating from Trinidad, & looked mediocre in subsequent fights.
He seemed to redeem himself by taking a fight with Hopkins. But, the redemption was short-lived when he folded up as soon as he realized some hurt was coming his way. Uhhh, he made 30mil+ for that, off of the backs of fight fans shelling out a ridiculous $60.00 for the non-fight.

Overall....an excellent fighter..a talented one. He had a mixed bag type of career, & I question his manipulative ways.

Hopkins vs. De La Hoya was a great fight.
Anyway, they hate him because he didn't live up to their expectations too much.

De La Hoya comes off as a whiner. I'm not sure if that's fair or not...maybe he just has a whiney voice. But his calls for an "investigation" after Mosley II were a bit silly, though really no worse than Hopkins' antics after the Taylor fight. Still, besides the inside the ring stuff that Jabs was pointing out, DLH's Hollywood lifestyle turns a lot of people off...and let's not forget that R&B album .

If you like tentativeness, caution, meaningless punches.....& a cuff to the body KO......yeah, it was definitely a great fight, & at a great price.

DLH was a great figther but he made some wrong moves
while he said he wanted to be loved by the mexican comunity, even though he was a great boxers his fight style was nothing alike the "mexican warriors" it was safer. then he knocked the **** out of the Greatest mexican boxer even not once but twice taking advantage of old man Chavez. then when he had the fight won against Trinidad he decided to run and gave the decition to him and the fact that Tito was PR just worsened the whole thing and add to that his music carrer slacking off against Mosley in the first fight. and now as a manager
Barrera went from figthing Morales and Paquiao to Fana and Peden...

Hopkins learned from the best about whining and crying over a loss
