rickie crushed alot of ******* and booze before the fights he lost. Plus the wee midget avoided the tough fighters building up a farce joke 40-0 record. Hatton will be remembered as a punching bag who slept in the middle of the ring in his biggest losses. just another british joke.

Ricky Hatton was a true people's champ.

He brought his own freakin band to fights and weigh-ins, had his own chants ("Hatton Wonderland"), finally made a winner out of Manchester City footie fans who bestowed Blue Moon upon him for his own entrance song which is about as big as it gets (imagine Michigan fans filling half the arena singing "The Victors" at Floyd fights), and had as many as 15k-20k UK fans travel all across way to US for his big fights and boosted the Vegas economy where some top end fighters can't even sell 1000 tickets at an indian casino in bum**** nowhere.

His hardcore fans were not internet keyboard warriors who stream free fights, they paid with their damn wallets and were truly organized rather than posers playing fake "mafia" on a website. That grassroots support where your blue collar working class fans PAY hard earned vacation money to see you fight is truly gansta. Boxing will not see that unique support for a LONG time, and it will take something equally as UNIQUE to compare. He injected soccor mob style fandom which was GOOD for the sport of boxing.

Hard way to go out. His whole schtick was he was one of boys, and basically he got clocked, and got clocked quick, and ugly, and his own trainer bailed on him where he was left alone in ring and he walked back to dressing room with no fanfare. Maybe he got a little too big, and set himself up for some of this, but this cat didn't want to do that to his fans.

          Respect.

so sad to see hatton idolized for a mediocre career ending in crushing and humiliating KO defeats. Then gets KO'd by ******* and alcohol abuse and shamed into being nothing more than a wee addicted drug addict. Shame shame but he's a brit.

It wasn't that he lost. It was the way Ricky lost. But, I've never seen soooo many people show sympathy to man whose wounds were all SELF-INFLICTED!! Mike Tyson received lots a sympathy over the years as well, but remember he had one of the roughest childhoods in the roughest neighborhood in NYC. His foundation was all messed up. But guys like Hatton & Floyd come from families of professional athletes!! They didn't start from nothing...like Mike & Pac did!

I do wish Ricky the best, but I don't wish him any more than the average person! Because he HAS WAY MORE than the average person!!! C'mon...he's wealthy, healthy (if he wants to be) and has a long future as a promoter and businessman. He doesn't really deserve all this sympathy...I'm sorry.

couldn't feel sorry for a guy taking drugs and cheating on his woman.
The guy didn't think about his woman when he f***d that b***h, and neither did he think about the young kids that were looking up to him when he snorted coke, go and die ricky you miserable fool.
