    Is it a cultural thing?

I was hesitant to post this because I didn't want to seem the "American bashing other countries' boxers" and that really isn't the intent.

I noticed something in the Lacy-Reid fight the other night, and it was very similar to what I saw going on in the Hatton-Tzsyu fight.

Twice I saw Reid wink at his corner then commit a blatant foul. The first was a low blow thrown at close quarters while the ref was behind Lacy, the second was the heabutt that he got deducted for.

Hatton fouls an awful lot, too.

I admit, I haven't seen much British boxing in the past few years, but the 2 prominent fighters I have seen are both pretty free with the fouls. Is this an accepted thing in British boxing, or is it just these two guys? I've seen a few Calzaghe fights, and he seems pretty clean.

Again, please don't take this as a criticism of British boxing. I was just wondering if it was more acceptable to the British fans than the American ones.

Boxing ain't a tickling contest... It's prize fighting.

Americans try to soften it, the same way they refuse to play rugby and start up a new sport called American football where they're allowed to wear a **** load of protective clothing.

Frightened of getting hurt?... Perhaps so ...

... LOL!... This should get the ball roling vB Martin, I take it your thread is surposed to be provoking another "UK vs US" type argument again?

I better add this... (To the Americans that don't get Irony, I'm taking the piss!)

      MartinWBC......

reid was fouling because he was the OPPOSITE of a tough guy....he started fouling 'cause he was AFRAID of, & uspet by, Lacy....& knew he couldn't hang with just his fists.
His **** was BLATANT fouling....not the product of rough infighting.

Hatton-Tszyu was a different story....it was a rough, rough fight.....& Hatton was made of rougher, tougher stuff than Tszyu.

This is a silly thread anyway, there's no more fouling in British boxing than there is anywhere else. If someone wants to get the US-UK rivalry going there are better fights to pick.

Agapito Sanchez is a dirty fighter. But he's neither American nor Brit.

Hey are you trying to make fun of the NFL Football. Football player are 10 times stronger then any Rugby player. At least in America we don't consider Cricket & Polo real sport.
