He has to take light heavyweight before even thinking about it and he is also only 5'9. Short for these super heavies now a days.

Yes he is too short at 5'9. Sure he's built likea heavyweight, but light heavy should be the limit for him. They showed video of Lacy in his home by his shelf where he keeps all his belts. He has a 1 column for SuperMiddleweight, 1 column for middleweight, and 1 column for lightheavyweight. He said he wants them all.

A guy who rely on size and strength that much in his boxing style will find it very hard to move significantly out of his weight class. In this case it will be perticular hard because in the heavys at least he will have to fight men that are naturally much bigger than himself. So forget the heavys.
Middleweight i do not see as realistic because he would really have to drain himself to make the weight. Remember he is allready big at SM.
But why move onto another weight division unless you really have problems making the weight when you are in a division with a lot of talent. There are very many exciting fights for him to be made at SM. Calzaghe and Kessler the most noticeable but more still.

I think Lacy should gain more punching power if he wants to step into the heavyweight division. I don't want to say it is impossible, cause James Toney and Roy Jones jr. both succeeded in the heavyweight division without being knocked out (honestly speaking, I wouldn't call that really success, cause they both faced a pathetic John Ruiz, a heavyweight garbage can). Let Lacy be focused on the super middle weight division and the lightheavyweight divison before looking further.

Lacy is to short. Light heavies is about as far as he will go. He is only 5'9".

If he wanted to commit suicide.
But in all seriousness i think he would get handled because he would be too small.

The question is, "Can Jeff Lacy fight Heavyweights?"

The answer is yes. Lacy could probably do just fine against the current crop of fringe contenders. I would give Lacy a pretty good chance to stop someone like Malcome Tann.

The question that you are answering is, "Can Jeff Lacy be the ring magazine heavyweight champ?" The answer to that is an astounding NO because the Lacy gets hit and the heavyweights hit a lot harder than the 168ers. The type of fighters that move up to heavyweight and do well are fast boxers that move well (with the exception of Holyfeild).

I will mention this, however. Leff Lacy is not ever going to be a slick boxer, so he would make exciting fights and he could probably make more money at heavyweight than he can at Super Middle.

                    Could Lacy Fight Heavyweights?

Lacy can move up and get knocked out by some heavyweights. He is too short to fight any real heavywiegths and if he is getting tied up by super middlewieghts what is going to happoen at heavy?
he has been dazed by super middles because he is very hittable, lacy will get ktfo at heavy weight.
