Is HBO making a mistake by not putting Bradley/Alexander on BAD (boxing after dark)?

what dont you understand about budgets?

both of these guys are getting PAID and neither are money generating fighters.
a fight of this magnitude deserves a bigger stage...at least for the exposure, which would be my only argument for this fight being on WCB, but the fact is that neither guy generates a whole lot of interest outside of hardcore fans.

hopefully that'll change after a fight like this, but i doubt it.

In a year where the biggest fight in boxing couldn't get made, I just don't understand how you can complain about 2.5 mil being put up between two potential stars. Besides PAC and Floyd who else generates money? Where else would you rather the money be spent? I guess HBO should pay them to fight bums to "hype" the fight then.

i'd rather they spread the money out and make MORE fights.
potential stars is debatable. they're 2 black fighters with boring personalities.
paying a lot of money for a fight that will likely lose money is not good for business.
the more bad investments they make, the smaller the return will be...the smaller the budgets will be and then we'll be getting less fights.

Which fights should they go after then? I can't help but feel that you're contradicting yourself. HBO is putting up the money for this fight between 2 undefeated americans with star POTENTIAL. I don't think the fact that they have potential is debatable. Whether they will or can become actual stars of course is, but that is not what I am saying. I don't think they're trying to have another Berto on their hands, (neither of these guys managed by Haymon, right?) I'd say they are hoping a good fight happens and that perhaps one, if not both of these fighters rises to the occasion.

by the looks of early 2011's tentative schedule, they're going after the right fights. they should just pay the fighters accordingly.

Overall I agree, sorry for getting worked up. Just glad to finally see some good fights beginning to happen, especially since this one was in question for a while.

I think the amount they are getting paid is just right. Two young and hungry fighters that are the best in their division and potential future of the sport should be put on WCB. If not these guys, who else should be on that slot?

HBO thinks that the next star will come from this 140 division. Khan and Maidana are also on HBO WCB and Ortiz is on that undercard.

The number 1 and number 3 guys in the division fighting in a unification, and you think the winner is just now shedding the title of "prospect?" You are aware Bradley has been a defending and unified champion for years now, right?
These are two of the best young fighters in the sport. Of course they deserve to be on WCB.

How the hell can you even say that when they haven't even fought, for all we know Bradley gives Kotelnik a worse beating than this guy.

let me guess, he was robbed against Amir too right?

No I think this is perfect for WCB. Alexander is at least very popular in St. Louis even though he looked bad in his last fight. Bradley has grinded out 4 or 5 defenses of pretty decent competition. It's a good matchup.
