I hope those posters who post how a fighter is a pu**y can read about this story and educate themselves, This is a very sad situation and i hope more can be done for him in PR, He brought PR a good name and its sad how it seem to have gone for him.

Exactly!! 3 pages since yesterday on this subject!!! I thought Benitez was relaxing and enjoying the fruit of his hard earned labour in PR, Never even knew this was going on.

Benitez's condition might have a lot to do with him being in competitive fights since a very young age. By 24 years of age he was already a shot fighter, but he had already been a pro for over 10 years.

Wow this is a real tragic situation , this gives me a how new outlook on the Dirrell situation
I'd rather he retire now and becomes maybe a trainer or 2nd man in da corner. Can't play with these brain injuries

This just shows you that boxing is a brutal sport and the changes of glove size, # of rounds etc.. was needed to protect these fighters. Even nowadays we here about boxing tragedies. Years ago while living in PR i saw an interview on Benitez because his family did not have enough money to support his disability. Yes it is sad. Let's just hope some of these fighters know when to hang the gloves up

Posting in this thread out of respect. This is essentially why I think fighters should look after their health first, I bet this thread will die out fast whilst ******ity like ''Pacquiao is on shakes'' or ''Mayweather slapped his baby mama'' reach 10 pages within the minute.

Another person that needs to call it quits now is erik morales. i cant believe he's thinking about fighting devon alexander.
the ref let it go on for way too long too

he was getting hit way too much, ****** ref is supposed to protect the fighters, well this one didn't do his job

and yes, I think Benitez looked frightened, you could see it in his eyes, probably realizing his skills were slipping and failing him

as sad as it might be though, Benitez showed tremendous heart and chin in this fight, because Hilton could ****

Benitez obviously suffers due to a long career in the ring, but perhaps more importantly his condition can be contributed to the amount of tough sparring he endured. I seem to remember reading that Benitez and his brother fought thousands of rounds.

I don't know how much shot Morales is, I thought he looked decent (although not the same as he used to be) against Lamond, but Holyfield, seriously, despite his age, he's still in tremendous shape and he doesn't take a lot of punishment
