According to the article, Benitez receives $14,000 per year from the government plus $250/month from boxing.
Given that the average household income in Puerto Rico is $26,000/year and the average size of each household is 3.6, this $14k is good money.
I'm not saying that his family is treating him as a cash cow now. But he certainly was his father Gregorio's cash cow when he was still fighting.Comment

that is disgusting to watch. that looked like oscar in the ring vs pacquiao. just a sitting duck, cant pull the trigger, & i think i saw a couple of times where benitez just looked frightened. Another person that needs to call it quits now is erik morales. i cant believe he's thinking about fighting devon alexander.Comment
