IMO James is a solid fighter, but I believe why people like him is his style..Boxing has changed in away there are not alot of fighters trying to put their opponents away so he is like must see T.V. Cause he always goes balls to the wall..I would love to see him fight Cintron before he takes on some other names in the div..Cotto won't beat Jame and I think James give Pwill hell don't know how that would end but would love to see it..IMO he better stay away from Martinez..I think James is a solid fighter but nothing really special...But he is very exciting..

Nah, I don't rate the guy. He doesn't even entertain me *that* much.

Somebody just mentioned Lara and I agree I'd love to see that fight, but I don't know if Lara automatically beats him. And I like Saul Alvarez a lot. But he got wobbled by Cotto's little brother, so I don't think he's ready for Kirkland yet. I think Angulo-Kirkland is close to a 50-50 fight if Kirkland can get back to form. I don't know if Martinez beats him really because it seems like his weakness is pressure, but Cotto loses to any version of Kirkland. Too small. I'd probably favor P-Will and Martinez over him, but he'd be a live dog because Martinez's stamina can give out on occasion and Williams isn't a great boxer.

I second that. The way people hype him up you would think that he wouldve finished julio much sooner than he did, but he seemed to fade in the later rounds. Fatigue started to show. As for the second coming of tyson, forget about it, this guy aint it. He's claimed that hes even better than tyson. He may have good power but not the devastating power tyson possessed and nowhere near the speed tyson held even as a 200lb plus fighter.

I consider him a great prospect, but not perfect. I also like the fact that the hype has come from his style of fighting and not because he was handpicked to be the next big thing by HBO.

hes a KO waiting to happen cuz hes so damn reckless in there. he needs a better trainer than ann wolfe. she trains him like a pitbull.

anybody have any idea who he might be working with? someone like joe goossen could harness that unbridled aggression. hes not that great of a fighter but he does have some tools to work with.

I think with kirkland if you can withstand the storm in the first couple rounds. He's a very simple boxer who you can tag

Because I dont see that at all. I dont see anything special about him.

I dont think he can beat Martinez, Williams, Lara, Dzizniruk or Cotto.
Yes. It's nothing more than he's an exciting fighter in a very boring period overall. There's just not that many. Decades ago, he wouldn't have made it anywhere with the way he fights....but today, people just want to see some exciting fights no matter what.

People see the style and KO% so they like him. People tend to confuse the question. The question isn't how exciting or dangerous he is but how good he is/can be. Is he going to beat the elite? I don't think so.
