Was rewatching Cintron vs Williams.

Cintron deserved to lose for sure. I don't give a shit what anybody says about it. Which is what this actual thread topic is about even though people are bringing some other aspects about Paul Williams that need addressed. Regardless of whether Cintron could've continued or not he still milked the situation like a pussy and four rounds isn't enough rounds to show who was the better fighter that night. They both landed almost the same amount of punches even though Williams missed with his jab a lot.Comment

Yeah I think I had 3 rounds for Cintron, 2 of them clear. Was kind of odd to give it to Williams when the only clear one he won was the 4th - and it wasn't a whole round.Comment

In order to appreciate this even more, you have to remember what the general sentiment was before this fight.
Most people thought it was a mismatch, that Williams was gonna destroy him, blah blah blah. This was a guy Williams was supposed to toy with.
Yet instead of going back and demanding he clear the situation up, he just pretends that the Cintron fight never happened.
That shows lack of character on top of fear of being ktfo.
A true competitor would wanna get right back in there and prove that all the people who said he would destroy Cintron were right. People will point to the fact that he's taking the Martinez rematch.
True, but this was after months of haggling. Also, where else can he go? He obviously doesn't want any part of Kermy, so the best option is to get a career high payday and cash out against Martinez.
He knows he's been exposed and once Martinez k.o's him it'll be back to undercards and Espn matches for him.Comment

Williams landed 5 jabs out of 89...
Cintron put on an utter master class on his ass
I shudder to think what Sergio will do with a proper training camp.Comment

I'll have to watch it again. I thought Kermit did well early in that round, but Williams came back, though I vaguely remember Paul getting his clock cleaned moments before Louganis exited the ring.Comment

Jack HBO turned down a rematch. They want nothing to do with that coward. Can you blame them?In order to appreciate this even more, you have to remember what the general sentiment was before this fight.

When Paul turned up the heat, Cintron quit.Comment

Williams' stock definitely went down with that fight. I won't dispute that at all. But if Cintron would've gotten that win I would've been more upset than Paul winning it because just like people said, he quit. Quitters shouldn't get rewarded. And if Williams some how wins agaisnt Martinez without help from biased judges and do it convincingly then he shouldn't have to rematch Cintron to prove his doubters wrong. HBO doesn't want Cintron on their air anyway because of the way he has acted. In order to appreciate this even more, you have to remember what the general sentiment was before this fight.

If anything, Cintron owes Martinez a rematch way more than Paul Williams does even though I admit that I view Paul Williams coming off as a bitch by trying to move back down in weight when Sergio was the only credible opponent willing to face him.Last edited by Iceta Lives; 10-09-2010, 02:46 PM.Comment
