Of course one blow to the head can cause permanent injury. Go try and find a neurologist to contradict that.

I also think what Abraham did was wrong but one punch does not cause brain damage. This isn't Rocky and Abraham is not Drago.

If Dirrell has a serious brain injury it was more than likely something that came about over a prolonged period and no doubt the Abraham fight exasperated it but people are acting ridiculous over this incident. If the punch had landed when Dirrell was standing would there be such a public witch hunt? I think not.
was about to make a thread on this

if it nueological damages...it happens over time unless u get hit by a car or something....

One punch can certainly give you brain damage, doesn't matter how tough you are, one clean shot and your would is rocked!

Max Baer killed Frankie Campbell, hit him so hard it ripped his brain from its spinal chord. One punch can deffinently mame/kill, doesn't even have to be from a awesome puncher, just gotta hit you the wrong way...Doesn't take anything to ruin a person, mortality sucks...And AA hits damn hard anyway...

After watching that fight I lost all respect for AA, they should strip his license from him, hes a thug. He actually stops and thinks about it a second, then tags the guy when he is practically laying on the floor!

Notice that they were both slipping and sliding on those crapping tags all fight long, I have noticed that they are hugely popular in the European arenas and CONSTANTLY cause fighters to fall and slip, especially when they are wet. Just goes to show you what dumbasses are over boxing overseas >.< Should outlaw those things...So much for fighters first

From a boxing standpoint that is a obvious crock of crap. So the logic here is that if I saw your punch coming and tensed up I would take more damage than if I didn't see it and was loose? Come on man, do you even know how this stuff works? The concussions and KOs are caused by the rocking of the head and jarring of the brain, that is the main reason your chin is the soft spot, it's the best area to spin your head around >.< AA hit him hella hard

            Whats next?

1 car accident can't give you brain damage?

1 aneurysm can't give you brain damage?

1 coma can't give you brain damage?

I met this guy once who told me he had suffered brain damage when a cinder block fell 3 stories at a construction site and hit him in the head when he had his hard hat off.

Now I realize he was a liar because no way 1 cinderblock can cause brain damage.

Thanks for putting that crap to rest...One punch can kill, and it doesn't take George Foreman to be throwing the punch...Interesting note though, what do yo guys think would happen to a normal man if George Foreman just walked up and socked him in the forehead? Brain matter on the ground? That's my guess...

One punch has killed a man before so it's not too far-fetched to think that one punch could give a man brain damage.. especially when he's been hurt from another punch, is on the floor and doesn't see it coming.

None of us know hes got brain damage, hes just said hes been feeling dizzy and that since the AA fight so went for a checkup and was told not to fight until it clears up... hes been for checks to see what it could be noone even knows yet, it could just be a random thing happening after the fight that had nothing to do with the fight, just a coincidence.

I hope its nothing drastic and will heal up soon so he can get back in the ring again anyway.

I'll start by saying ''I don't think Dirrell's career is over'', I hope it is not too.

Now I'll get to my main point, your thread is essentially why people ***** about fighters who don't stand toe to toe slugging with their opponent. They don't respect the risk that comes with boxing.

Any one punch can kill you, risk is greater when you are unprepared and when you are dehydrated.
