Why wasn't this an issue before? They are making it sound that Dirrell had serious ongoing problems since March, but nothing was mentioned and instead we got more realistic rumors of friends not wanting to fight, site problems etc.

I can see Dirrell pulling this because no one can prove him wrong, it prevents a Ward fight that he might have lost and the tournament was almost finished for him. This issue will have Direll sit out a considerable amount of time so that Showtime doesn't sue him, instead Shaw will now sue Abraham.

Fighters have absolutely no incentive to go public with a problem like this until they absolutely have to.

Admitting to a neurological disorder is something that will force any boxing commission to take a long, hard look at him and will force networks to decide if they want to televise a fighter with a known brain injury.

There will be nobody getting sued, I can assure you of that.

Well that's the problem, how do you prove something like this?

The guy says he has headaches and is dizzy. There is no Doctor in the world who can prove that, all they can do is a crap load of tests.

I agree with Wazaa, watch how Dirrell gets cured and fights in march. This is some bull****.

Dan might as well be referring to Dirrell's career in terms of him not getting anymore Showtime/HBO dates.

In terms of making a full physical recovery? I'm pretty damn convinced he will. Sorry, I'm a fan of Dirrell the boxer but I don't buy it.

And I will be the first to admit I was wrong if indeed I am.

Why is this so hard to believe? If any of you saw the fight, it was clear that Dirrell was in no position to defend himself (he was practically on one knee). His condition has little to do with just the power in Abraham's blow, but also where he was stricken-on the temple. Not only that, but Abraham's blow was aimed downward with his body weight behind it, thus generating a greater amount of force than he would from a normal punch. People have died in the boxing ring. A man having neurological symptoms that could be related to a strike to the head from a boxer is hardly unbelievable. I can guarantee that if any of you went to the doctor and reported frequent headaches and dizziness, one of the questions the doctor would ask would be if you had hit your head on something. This is a sad thing to happen to anyone, especially someone as young as Dirrell. Hopefully he recovers.

Dude you are using logic you are just gonna confuse all these dumbasses. I mean these are people who think that you can do exercises to make your brain more resiliant to head trama. These are people who think that there is no way a brain injury can be caused by one single punch from a knock out punching boxer.

excatly in the world of boxing any type of injury to the brain equals automatic take away of their boxing license and career

people can say it's not true but really they not in the ring getting hit with punches so what right do they have to say as boxing fans of all people that someone is having problems with his brains?

But remember according to the brain surgeons on this board who are all certified physicians in their respective states there is no way one blow from a man who has knocked people out with one punch could ever cause any brain injury.

Didn't you read the report in Mens health about this LOL?

If his career is in jeopardy, it sounds serious. No need to make some type of detrimental excuse.
