Bute is lookin to go to 175lbs

Conveniently he waited until Pascal announce his fight with Hopkins before this went public.

Bute said not more than 2 months ago that moving up to 175 to fight Pascal was not an option because he was hell bent on staying at 168.

Bute is a joke.

Good to see that most responders are agreeing with me, I thought for sure there would be more Bute apologists.

I think even La Tombeur is ready to admit that Bute is a chump posing as a champ.

I simply do not understand Bute's ways here. At first he was offered a high profile canadian recordbreaking fight for the linear LHW title. As far as I remember the fight was turned down based on Bute wanting to stay at 168 and waiting for the supersix to conclude. That made somewhat sense.

Now Pascal has signed to fight the ancient Hopkins and now suddenly Bute will fight a cruiserweight.

It's hard to blame posters for suspecting that Bute is ducking the tough fights. He has done it before and now it looks as if he is about to do it again.

if ward wins the super 6, the fight between bute and ward will be in vegas or atlantic city.

HBO will make the fight happen. they will throw too much money at that fight for ward and bute to walk away.

How is Bute ducking Pascal?

Bute-Pascal at 175 in December or January would have been the biggest fight in the history of Canadian Boxing.

Instead of signing the fight Bute insisted that he would not even consider moving to 175.

Fast forward 2 months and Pascal announces a fight with Hopkins... then a week later Bute announces that he will now move up to 175.

How is that not a duck?

Bute could have moved up and had a shot at the Ring, Lineal, IBO and WBC titles. Instead he signed to fight Jesse Brinkley so he could hold onto his bull**** IBF strap that means nothing.

I've been critical of Bute for awhile and he has justified my cynicism with these recent developments.

I want somebody to explain to me why Bute defending against Zuniga, Joppy, Miranda and Brinkely is any better than Zsolt Erdei's caliber of opposition.

You would hope so but that is wishful thinking.

First of all Ward is with Showtime and they are gonna do everything in their power to retain him on their network.

Secondly, HBO was willing to throw a shi*tload of money at Pascal-Bute yet Bute still preferred to fight Brinkley for a mere percentage of what the Pascal fight would have made.

So why would you expect him to do any different when faced with a Ward fight" Especially if it requires him to come to the USA.

there is no reason why bute should bring any fight to the states. fighting anybody from 168-175 would make the most money in montreal. nobody in those divisions is a draw like bute is in montreal. he'd be getting canadian PPV money, plus the gate, plus HBO money on top of the purse.

as for him moving up, i dunno why. he is right about one thing though. the super 6 is taking way too damn long.

Assuming Ward wins the super 6 he could easily be a bigger attraction in Oakland than Bute is in Montreal.
