Big difference my man. Bute is a 168 champ, he is not obligated to fight the best 175 pounder in the world. In no way, shape or form is that a duck move.

if bute had the lineal title at 175 he would be chased by the super six winner just to make legacy...there would also be no question who wouldve been the best at 168 at that time

There's no doubt Bute had alot to gain but had much more to lose. If he moved up he would've lost his 168 IBF title, unless he somehow was able to make a mandatory defense by moving back down. Alot of people seem to forget the risk/reward ratio. His promoters and Bute probably still wanted to campaign at 168.


They are probably the same size, the difference is Pascal has had a few fights at 175 with good opponents. Bute has not. Again, I believe if Bute were ever to fight Pascal at 175, it would be wise to have a couple tune-ups.

Hence, Pascal is fighting Hopkins next and after that fight, he "has" to fight Dawson again.
