Cotto-Chavez Jr is set for next Spring unless Gomez pulls a huge upset. That means Arum will have to find another fight for Pac during that time. With both Chavez and Cotto fighting eachother, there are no in house fights to make, meaning Top Rank will have to find an opponent that will A) Sell big numbers in a fight against Pac B) Not have much bargaining ability at the negotiating table.

Pacquiao-Williams is a GUARANTEED 1 million PPV buy fight, probably a lot more if it's marketed right, there will be a ton of hype and Williams is EASILY the most dangerous and exciting (style wise) fight for Pac. Also, he isn't much of a draw on his own, so he can't make any demands whatsoever at the bargaining table, basically has to smile and say thank you to whatever Pac's side wants. Pac could get a 75-25 draw and Williams would be honored to make that kind of pay day.

Manny is a better fighter at 147, hits harder, has a better chin, throws better combinations, has been in bigger fights and can handle the pressure, is a lot faster than Williams, etc.
