What could have been the cause of that? Is it that he dried out for the weigh in and when he finally rehydrated himself he looked horrible, or is it from overeating or something?

P.S. Look what your dad did to your boy..

How many pro fights has Jones gone in where he is the betting underdog? This may be only the second (Toney being the first). I remember Jones entering fights where he was 20-40:1 favourite. No other fighter in recent memory can do that, especially not on a consistent basis. Not even Mayweather when he fought the infinitely less talented Gatti could do those numbers... it was only a little while ago that Jones was considered invincible against any opponent, in particular after he soundly defeated Ruiz--before the fight occured, it was pretty much a toss up with people divided on who would win but Jones outclassed. Y'ALL MUSTA FORGOT!!

(especially the unreasonable Jones haters who claim he fought nobodies and yet claim that michelewski and a few other inferior talents fought the best and even if Jones had defeated King Kong during his career the Jones haters will make up some excuse like King Kong couldn't see Jones cuz he was too small)

POLL: why do some people refuse to acknowledge Jones' achievements yet magnify the achievements of lesser fighters?
Dumbest and most biased thread ever...bad karma for you..

Look at his competition and you'll see why....

He had been talkin about fighting HEAVYWEIGHT since 1997, but he just stepped up now because Ruiz was the safest HEAVYWEIGHT you can find...

I am not a Roy hater, but it's the truth...he thinks he's the greatest and no decent fighter deserves to fight him so he fights firefighters and the mailman..

His competition is amazing. He fought the top fighters from 160 to 175 and a heavyweight champ--which only himself, toney (win revoked), and a boxer over a 100 years ago did. Ruiz is not the best heavyweight but he wins. He beat holyfield, oquendo, rahman, golota.. you can say what you want, but he is able to get the W.

Obviously, he couldn't fight every single fighter that was top competition (no one can) as he moved up in weight and also some of the fighters people claim that he ducked were defeated before a fight could be made and he fought the fighters who defeated those fighters that he supposedly ducked.

Now, before you mention postmans and mailmans, school teachers (who were highly rated in the rankings despite their other jobs e.g. Otis Grant school teacher), perhaps you should look at his entire record and note that he did fight the top competition. His contracts with HBO required that he fight top competition (i.e. top ranked contenders). Also note that when he fought Hopkins, they were both rated #1 and #2 in the division and had similar level of experience. When he fought Toney he was the underdog and Toney had wayyy more fights than him and was considered possibly the best pound for pound fighter EVER (before being soundly defeated by Jones). There are plenty of other top quality fighters on the list that were top contenders or went on to win world titles after being defeated by Jones such as Virgil Hill, Griffin, Harding... scarcely losing a single round throughout his career!!

Also, in his THIRD fight, he fought a guy who was 16-1. In his 16th fight he fought Jorge Vaca (49-8), and in his 18th fight he fought Jorge Castro (70-3)!!!! That's tremendous talent overcoming experience.

If you were as critical of other fighters' records as you are with Jones, then all fighters would suck to you because Jones has one of the best careers of the past 10-15 years.
