I'm not sure why anyone would go through all the research, but I'm sure you had your reasons.
Thanks for the effort and shame on Oscar for not acting like the welter champion of the World. He lost that fight in my book.
For the Amrstrong fight there was NO Jr welter division then.. so they didn't have a choice.

i think most people's problem really is the title that's at stake for the pac-marg fight. there's just a few who are making an issue out of the catchweight. something they never had problems for with the other catchweight fights before so it's pretty obvious theyr'e just hating.

OK now go back and see how many of those fights was for Vacant titles...MANY of them was done because those was match ups FANS WANTED TO SEE...OR catchweight fights that the CHAMPIONS/TITLE HOLDER AGREED UPON because it was a big match like Whitaker vs Chavez

the problem that some people have is that is seems like Manny catchweights are being done to DRAIN his opponents, were as guys in the past was doing it because it was match ups the fans wanted to see and big Money Making Match Ups, this Margarito vs Pacquiao match up...this is not a dream match up or anything, this is basically setup for Pacquiao to collect another championship, if Margarito wasn't with Top Rank this fight wouldn't even be happening

by the way neither of them should be fighting for Martinez belt anyway to be honest, shows you how full of **** the WBC is though, MARGARITO been away from boxing for a year, one fight with some BUM bumps him all the way up to #1 contender? COME ON!

The differance between the Punisher Martinez & Pacman Margarito is..

That at least 1 of the fighters involved in the Punisher-Martinez is actually a champion at the weight of the title!!OOhh yes, that's right Martinez is the middleweight champion of the world!!Now in the case of Pacman Margarito, that's right neither are a champ at 154!!Big,big difference!!

i dont have a problem with catchweights so that we can have dream fights at an even advantage. but i have a problem with fighters going up weight to fight for a title at a catchweight. whats the pint in going up weight wheres the challenge? him being bigger than you is suppose to be the challenge and then winning that title means something. but bringing the champion or the challenger down form the limit of that title i have a problem with. roy jones didnt make ruiz weigh in at 197 1/2. hopkins fought pavlik i had no problems with because it was non title. i had a problem with oscar and hopkins because it was for middleweight. duran didnt say hagler has to weigh 156.

i mean fighters can do what they want but dont disgrace boxing and say your a 8 division champion when you never foguht in those divisions. its a slap in the face to fighters before. not just manny but anyone who use catchweight to win titles in whats suppose to be a bigger challenge.

So the crybabies are still b itching about it being for a title?

                    Mind you,

the majority of the board says "belts don't mean s hit" anyways,

so what is the gripe really about?

I notice the biggest chillones happen to be Cotto and Floyd stans.

Pac has not touched the actually limit for Oscar, Hatton, Cotto and Clottey.

Cotto was not drained. He looked physically the best ever and his speed was fast. He only weighed 146 Vs Clottey the fight before... He did well until Pac took his best punches and the speed hurt him badly.

Once they realised that Pac could handle 147 fully, they went for it with Clottey.

As for Marg, well he was a 147'er most of the time. He came in at 145'5 pounds Vs Mosely. The excuse of weight drain in that fight is not the 147 issue, but the fact that he came in under.

Now Pac is not going to hit 150, and I will be surprised if he even hits 147. If Pac does well, it is more than likely his next fight will be at a full 154 because it is enoguh time for his body to adjust, or 147 if it is Mayweather.

As for the title, yes perhaps it isn't the best weight for a JMW title, but it is within the rules.
