Thing is though, once you get past Wlad's jab you have to deal with the clinch. There is a very narrow window of opportunity where you can land a meaningful shot, before ol' octopus arms is all over you. Most fighters simply don't possess the speed and power to make that shot count. Tyson does, but you can bet he'll be eating some heavy leather whilst doing so. It's my belief (based on watching a number of their fights) that Tyson would start to get increasingly frustrated when he isn't able to get into a rhythm early and finding the majority of his work nullified, even if he is getting in with the odd good shot. Wlad, on the other hand, would be expecting a rough few opening rounds but would gradually start establishing his rhythm later on in the fight as is his wont. True, Wlad hasn't fought anyone like Sanders for a while, but Sanders was a big man, and a southpaw to boot. And the Wlad of today is much better than the Wlad of back then. I think that's more or less a given. Tyson has a great shot, but he'll need to be at his very best.

Anyway, I'm going to bed. It's been fun people...

“I think based on this performance here and his own conversations with me in the recent days that he realizes that he is actually too reluctant, too intelligent, too technical—that I think you’re going to see a much more aggressive fighter in Wladimir. If this man actually would just operate with close to 80%—he’s only operating with about 60%—he would be the most devastating heavyweight in the history of boxing because I’ve worked with him. Never, ever, ever have I been involved with a fighter who has so much one punch punching power. Even guys that knock somebody out—they get them hurt, they knock them down, they get them groggy—Wladimir is the only fighter I’ve ever worked with that everything can be normal like a big party—everybody is having champagne, on the floors, in the tuxedos, with the music—and the lights go off completely at one time. I mean it’s not like a gradual dimmer switch. I never saw anyone who knocked out people in a gym when they block punches and he did that about three weeks ago with a sparring partner—two weeks ago, prior to the fight. With a sparring partner he threw a left hook, the sparring partner blocked the punch and with twenty ounce gloves he was still knocked out. He has unbelievable one punch punching power and that’s why maybe he doesn’t put combinations together because he punches so effectively and with so much power with one punch, but his handicap and problem is he feints too much. He wants everything to be perfect—perfect balance, perfect this, and the last round he was a little overly aggressive, got out of position a few times, but to go three minutes with a guy with his power is like a lifetime because even if he just grazes you with a punch, you’re going to be hurt.”

His views on Wladimir’s punching power:
“What makes him really special also is he has so much power in the late rounds. A lot of guys, great punchers like (Mike) Tyson, they were great in the early rounds but very seldom in the late rounds. Wladimir has knocked out guys like he did with Chris Byrd, and (Ray) Austin, and Eliseo Castillo—he knocked those guys out early because he threw a punch early, an early power punch. And then he’s had the power to go out after being down three times with Sam Peter and he had him out on his feet in the twelfth round of a very grueling fight with one single punch, a left hook. Then he knocked out Thompson. With Tony Thompson he ran across the ring and threw one straight right hand in the eleventh round and just walked away, and Thompson went down totally finished. Now he knocks out this guy in the twelfth round with ten or twelve seconds left with one punch. To have a fighter that has that kind of devastating one punch clean knockout power is so much stress on the opponent because you’re never safe.”
        Thanks for posting this.

            its pathetic
Not me! But it really is the truth! Division is very weak, American heavy w8's are weak as f*uck!!!!! Tell me 1 American heavy w8 that the Klitschko's hav beatn that will be in the HOF? **** Wlad lost too a old ass lewis, I aint say the Klitschko's are weak but there far from the best IMO. I dont take nothing away from what the hav done in the Heavy W8 Div. but personally that is the weakest div. in boxing an has been for a while.

Against wladimir he was in survival mode from round 1 not throwing many punches and mostly covering up. Wlad played it safe.. But if we should go after your logic we can look at wladimirs fight with Ray Mercer, wlad was the first to stop him and had him down already in the first round. Ray was on a 7 win streak since his MD loss to lennox when they meet. Something lewis, holyfield, morrison, holmes and many more couldnt.

And talking about Foreman, he boxed a doubtful MD against ironchin Axel schulz who had never been down in his career. Shortly after this fight, Foreman was stripped by the IBF for refusing to give Schulz a rematch.
Later Wlad fights him for vacant EBU (European) heavyweight title and destroys schulz and the first to stop him.

Wlad beat Axel the same way Axel fought George, just get around the punches. Outspeeded. I think George beat Axel but I will revise my opinion to say that Wlad does even worse to old George, but still stand by Young George running through him. Even with old George you still have that power, the hardest hitter Wlad could ever face.

Its not good for your argument to bring the Mercer fight here, their was a 6 year span between Lewis and Klitschko, and Mercer was old old old. 41 years old, and obviously way past his prime.

                • Wlad or vitali would put up a good fight if not beat the ATG's. Black people and racists just can't stand the fact that a white man can fight good. They hated marciano for it.

Rahman was old and way over the hill in that fight, and ontop of that was a talentless slow blob in his prime. Edge wayyyyyy over to Lennox Lewis.

I know he was old but it doesnt change the fact that he was the first to stop him in impressive fashion. Ray was still one tough SOB old school fighter. If you watch the fight on youtube you can hear the hbo commentators was very impressed and that win made a big statment about wlad's power at that time. In wlads fight with charles shufford he had one of the sickest right hands I have seen and Emanuel Steward was commentating and said that his right hand was one best if not the best he's ever seen. Remeber this was years before steward became wlads trainer.
