Gairy St Clair (a former world champ), Barrera, they have/had more credentials than anyone McCloskey has beat.

McCloskey needs to be fighting guys like Souleymane M'baye, Kendall Holt imo

i agree he needs about 2 more fights against recognised names. All the top dogs are busy for the foreseeable future. Thats gives him time to have at least one more fight. If he picks it wisely he could be within a shout of a title against someone. Not sure where he ranks with the 4 organisations, but he needs to beat someone above him in 2 or 3 of those organisations to try and force a mandatory position or an eliminator.

forgot to add that Khan wants a fight in the UK after Maidana. Any unification match with the top dogs will likely be in the states for live HBO. That opens a door for a domestic opponent.

McCloskey is 4th on the WBC rankings and unranked (on last months rankings) in the others. Devon Alexanders belt is the one to go for. Morales is 2nd with the WBC, and he's top 10 with the WBA so he'd be the man to go for to improve his ranking and get a named opponent on his record and a title shot/eliminator.

I hope he can find another way though. dont like it when fat shot fighters get used as stepping stones, but thats the most logical fight from Pauls point of view.

Thats what im saying, at least fight 1-2 guys like that before you get a shot like that, even if there just former world champs on the way down, or guys who have fought for the world title and lost.
