Absolutely, I would agree with the build up if both possessed unquestionable talent and each were legitimately going into every upcoming fight from now until then as the favorite to win. Without question, Canelo with what I’ve seen thus far possesses that legitimacy. He will be a future champ that will add to the great lineage of Mexico’s great boxers. Unfortunately, it’s questionable if Chavez Jr. will be able to follow suit.
I think what will happen is Canelo will continue to challenge himself whereas Chavez Jr. will be less willing. Granted, Duddy in my mind is not fantastic but was a definite step up but how many fights did it take to finally take on a challenge.
At this point in their respective careers, the fight would be competitive based on Chavez Jr. experience even against mediocre talent and Canelo’s youth and raw talent; a young hungry fighter and a fighter trying to legitimize his career. The drama alone would be fantastic and isn’t that why we all love this game?
In my opinion, I just don’t see Chavez Jr. holding his end of the deal over the long term and then we’ll all be robbed of this matchup. Years from now, Canelo will essentially be on another level and won’t think twice.
Believe me, I hope that I’m wrong and they both continue to win and build up this fight!!!

I like this kids honesty. He has confidence but also has the honesty to say that he is still young and admits he still needs improvement, come on now this kids is just 20! I really dont want him to go for the top dogs right out the gate, like what vargas did then get blitz by trinidad and de la hoya. Another point is why should he fight another up and coming fighter of the same country. I think they should both put a few more foes under their belts and when they do reach the top then fight for their countries pride. Its a good idea to wait a while put some more scalps on their resume then fight when they are at the peak in their careers. Right now they are still on the incline coming up, better to fight when they are at the top for more chips.
