Floyd was interested I think but maybe expected Pac to outpoint Cotto in a tough fight with in and out movement if he didn't get caught. When Pac just demolished Cotto, Floyd pooed his pants and had to come up with a way out even though he couldn't know for sure Pac wouldn't give into his demands, if he had Floyd could have just demanded some other silly thing because he didn't want to fight.
Floyd Mayweather Never Had Intentions Of Fighting PAC

In my honest opinion, PAC was never in his plans when he decided to come back
i truly believe that Floyd felt Hatton was going to beat PAC...he came back during the buildup of that fight...there were even reports of him visiting the UK and mentioning a rematch
when PAC blew Hatton out of the water, the public's demands for a PAC-PBF fight became enormous...everyone was buzzing at the thought
when PAC destroyed Cotto, Floyd had to think fast to stall and he lucked out
Arum was so intent on holding a fight in Texas for his pal Jerry Jones and Floyd's reluctance to fight outside of Vegas quickly squashed any kind of re-negotiations
and now, when PAC has accepted the terms, Floyd has run out of excuses...thats why he decided to go on vacation
the only thing that will happen now is for PAC-Tony to be a big success to give Floyd that last out
after November, PAC will look back and think 'damn, in two fights i did over 2mil ppv buys AND i put OVER 100K people in a stadium'
50-50 will sound like a generous offer to give to Floyd...at which Floyd will ask for 60 or over
the final nail in the coffin...no fight
FLOYD MAYWEATHER STATEMENT
"Throughout this whole process I have remained patient, but at this point I am thoroughly disgusted that Pacquiao and his representatives are trying to blame me for the fight not happening when clearly the blame is on them.
"First and foremost, not only do I want to fight Manny Pacquiao, I want to whip his punk ass.
"Before the mediation, my team proposed a 14-day, no blood testing window leading up to the fight. But it was rejected. I am still proposing the 14-day window but he is still unwilling to agree to it, even though this is obviously a fair compromise on my part as I wanted the testing to be up until the fight and he wanted a 30-day cut-off. The truth is he just doesn't want to take the tests.
"In my opinion it is Manny Pacquiao and his team who are denying the people a chance to see the biggest fight ever. I know the people will see through their smokescreens and lies. I am ready to fight and sign the contract. Manny needs to stop making his excuses, step up and fight."Comment

IMO Floyd came back wanting his P4P status again. Fighting JMM, who gave Pac some good/questionable fights and was ranked P4P was to be a stepping stone or tune up to get to Pac. They wanted a fight with Pac thinking he was the "smaller" man.
After the destruction of both Hatton and Cotto, accusations of PEDS starting flying around. This was probably due to Manny's power following him to the higher weights. Common sense shows its due to Manny's legs and he was more comfortable at WW. No weight draining at all lets you concentrate on more important aspects of camp.
Everything that has come from Team Floyd since the end of last year is nothing but excuse after excuse. Why all the demands, why not just fight?
Getting off my soapbox, IMO it was after the Cotto fight that floyd changed his mind about Pac.Last edited by clmags12; 09-29-2010, 08:24 PM.Comment
