I get really annoyed at people who criticize the Super Six, especially those that ignore facts/truths.

First, Bika's father just died and he wanted to fight in Quebec. However, Green's contract states he will fight in the US. So Bika is out.

Second, many (though thankfully no one on this board) say Bute. Ok, I get it. People wanted him in from the start. He was not made part either because a) SHO didnt think he was a big enough draw or b) HBO paid him handsomely so the Super Six would not be as powerful. Regardless, there is no way HBO will let Bute join the Super Six and will match/beat whatever SHO offers.

Third, the reason they didnt go to the Semis was Green's contract. The whole beauty of this thing was fighters would be guaranteed several meaningful fights. Green was under contract for 2 and possibly up to 4 fights on SHO with big paydays. SHO cant just tell him tough when there is a contract involved. For legal reasons, hands down a replacement fighter was a smart move. For those who dont agree, please provide a REASONABLE solution (aside from 'move to semis' without addressing the Green contract situation...and obviously SHO didnt have an ability or think it was worth 'buying him out').

Fourth, who would all of you haters want to have fight (assuming you cant move to the semis)? If you cant have Bika or Bute (see above), then who should be the replacement over Johnson? I doubt any alternatives are better than Johnson, a former RING FOTY and RING LHW champ.

I understand this tournament didnt work out the way everyone wanted, but it still makes meaningful fights, incentives fighters, and does not punish fighters for losing (except for those of you who think Green should be replaced for losing one fight, he should be punished for some reason and not given the second fight he is owed).

They should of just had Ward-Dirrell, Froch-Abraham as the semi-final. Winners fight for the championship and the losers fight each other.

I don't mind the Johnson-Green fight. It should just not be part of the S6. Green said he might move to 175 cuz he has trouble making 168. So why not have this fight as a triple-header at 175 and not part of the S6.

I just don't get this move.
      agree......

I wasn't aware that Green was guaranteed 2 fights in the tournament.

Do you have a source to prove this? In which case, this seems like a smart move, on the part of showtime.

I'm not too sure about Glen Johnson as the replacement, though. What do you think about Andrade or Stieglitz over Johnson?

My understanding is that when Green was added, he took the place of Taylor. Since Taylor was guaranteed three fights (everyone was), Green took over his two remaining fight guarantee. I dont have a source, but that was my understanding from when the replacement occurred.

I think Andrade would have been a good choice. However, he has not fought outside of Quebec since 2007 and has been rumored as the fight true 168 fight for Kelly Pavlik. I think fighting in the US and missing out on a potential HBO fight against Pavlik (either due to losing or being tied up for much of 2011) made him an unlikely replacement.

Stieglitz would have been a good choice, but he holds a belt which can complicate things. I dont know how much he makes defending in Europe, but I somehow dont think the $ would have been in it for him to take a fight he might lose. Plus a loss means he likely would lose his belt, and after one fight walk away with nothing. For him, I dont think the one fight was enough in the risk/reward department.

I thought another good and realistic replacement would have been Darren Barker. He is no. 11 ranked by Boxrec at MW, a former European and Commonwealth champ, undefeated, and promoted by Froch's promoter (thus making the contract stuff easier). However, he does not have a big name and his promoter may have other plans for him (e.g., a fight in the UK against Froch if Froch loses).

Should be an exciting night in Vegas. Looking forward to the JuanMa/Marquez fight and whomever Allan fights.

What other sources do you need? It's 3 stages total for the qualifying rounds and then the semis start. So when Green replaced Jermaine to face Ward that was only stage 2, hence Green gets a fight in the 3rd stage that was suppose to be Viqueen Warrior. You did read the rules for this Super 6 in the beginning, right? C'mon dawg, stay in the pocket and focus!

If Green can't beat Johnson at this point, he's not even a pretender. He has some skills, but I don't see him beating anyone better than a corpse. That's what Glen Johnson is at this point. He showed that to me against Cloud. Again, if Green can't beat Johnson, he should find a new line of work.

I don't think Johnson is a good replacement for this tournament because he's not a worldclass supermiddle weight fighter and this a smw tournament.

HOWEVER, should he successfully and healthily make 168, he will almost certainly slowly destroy Allan Green imo
