He then goes and demands a catchweight against Martinez. Who is the world champion. Paul isnt the world champion. To me that is a b*tch move that he has copied from the catchweight king Pacquiao. And I don't buy the idea that Pacquiao is allowed to do it because he is "smaller" than his opponents. Floyd Mayweather Jr was naturally smaller than Genaro Hernandez, Jose Luis Castillo, Arturo Gatti, Carlos Baldomir, Oscar De La Hoya and Shane Mosley but he didnt ever demand catchweights. He just beat them. Fair and square.

What gives Williams the right to demand that? I never understood all the hype about him. Basically he has 2 good wins. Against Martinez which was extremely close and against Winky Wright. Who was coming off a 2 year layoff. He also beat Quintana but he lost to Quintana in the first fight.

How this makes him p4p #3 I do not know. Top 3 P4P fighters don't lose to guys like Carlos Quintana. It's just hype from the American media. This guy isnt the best fighter at 154 or 160lbs. I'm sorry but he isnt. And he isnt a big enough draw to ever get a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Which is abit of a shame because I would love to see Floyd expose him. Although Pacquiao might fight him at a catchweight if Martinez knocks him out. But I doubt that will happen. Sergio doesnt punch hard enough to KO a Middleweight.

But I do think he will beat Williams if he fights smart.
I'll make it very simple so that you understand.

      1. Paul Williams has lost once and has won his last six.
      1. Paul Williams beat Sergio Martinez in their first fight.
      2. Paul Williams has made it clear that he wants to fight at 147 and not at middleweight. So being forced to fight at middleweight by HBO justifies him asking for a catchweight of 3lbs under the 160 limit. A weight that Sergio Martinez has made and can make comfortably.

I don't see the big problem. Williams doesn't want to be a middleweight at this point of his career and can make any demands he wants on a guy he's already beat.

        2. The post relates to Williams catchweight demands. When your mentioning catchweights in boxing you have to mention Pacquiao. I mentioned Floyd because posters on here call him a "coward" yet he never in his 41 fight career demanded a catchweight. He just beat everyone under any circumstances. He fought De La Hoya at Oscar's weight class, with handpicked gloves and in Oscar's backyard and still beat him.
Your talking ****, he made JMM fight at what? 144? and came in at 146? Your clearly a *****, watch boxing, not Floyd.

And yes, as you can tell him my past posts, im a huge Floyd fan.. but not Bias.

P.S sorry to TS for Hi******* and talking about Floyd.

He is a bit of a hypocrite. I liked Paul Williams i think he's a brilliant fighter but recently i've been dissapointed. He has a chance at the 160 linear title against a guy he knows he can already beat, yet despite not being the champion he is demanding a catchweight. I don't like that and i find myself losing respect for him even more as the weeks pass.

Why can't boxers just get in the ring and fight like they used to just for the prestige and the recognition from the fans and critics. That's more powerful than a paper title or more money.

jk1700 absolutely right, williams is a fraud. i mean hbo forced the big dude to fight martinez this time round. he,s 39.1 by using high volume slaps and he punches from the elbow. cintron exposed him for 4 rounds until he fell from the ring and floyd would surely do another mosley on williams. i cant wait to see this guy knocked the freak out.

i think floyd is worse, fighting JMM at a catch weight and comes overweight during the weigh-in, didnt even bother to make the weight and just paid JMM some money

Deifinitely one of the biggest internet hypejobs Ive seen in a long time. People actually said he'd be unbeatable from 147-160...lol I mean seriously wtf? The guy was getting tagged clean and hard by the likes of Walter Mathysse and Sharmba Mitchell.

Im kinda worried that people are now underestimating him though. I think Martinez beat him but Williams still made it relatively close. His workrate is problematic for anyone.
