I'd be surprised. Cotto kept it very competitive for 4-5 rounds, but from then on it went downhill.

I expect Manny to take it similarly slow against Margarito to make him a bit tired and turn it on only after a few rounds, but Margarito to hit Manny less often than Cotto because of the big difference in speed.

Manny didn't take it slow with Cotto in the first 4-5 rounds. He forced Cotto to fight starting in the second round and cause him to open up for the shots that knocked him down. Cotto fell for it and tried to fight with Manny early on, then he got sparked in the 4th. He was hurt and was starting to get exhausted after that. It appeared that Cotto was competitive, but those first four rounds were where Cotto basically gave the fight away. Manny was doing more damage to him than he was doing to Manny and the pace was one that Cotto could not sustain.

the 3 of them had styles that could be a FOTY potential

in terms of competitiveness, i think Margs can bring it on

remember, no one's backpedalling for this fight

I think Margarito could potentially be more competitive with Pacquiao than Cotto was if he can have him backing up constantly and get him with good shots on the ropes.

Thats easier said than done though, when you consider the difference in footwork and handspeed that Pacquiao has compared to him, Pacquiao should be able to hit him when he wants to and get out of Margaritos range when he wants to. With Cotto, cotto had good enough handspeed and boxing skills overall to fight back with Pacquiao but eventually his stamina cost him.

Margarito has the stamina to fight Pacquiao but lacks the speed, footwork and overall boxing ability to keep up with him.

Pacquiao wins a decision, possibly stops him late depending on how many times he hits him which will be alot anyway.

This fight will be exciting no matter what happens though.

After a long layoff, and some ring rust, Tony dropped this guy in the 1st round (he'd never been dropped before) and basically shut him out, UD. And he was not in the form that he'll be in vs Manny. This is the biggest fight of his career, he's coming to fight. He's got A LOT to prove. He's gotta prove that the Shane fight was an off night, that he's good without plaster, and that he's the Mexican that Manny can't beat. That alone will be motivation enough to make him train harder than he's ever trained before.

Margarito may not win many, if any, rounds but I think he'll be constantly coming forward and always be a threat. Cotto was done after 5 rounds and it was just Pac chasing him round the ring.
