Add to those the time when he was being interviewed and he commented about how he felt about a catchweight fight, not sure how it went but to an effect he said he's against it, then the interviewer told him he fought Hopkins for the MW title at a catchweight, and Oscar was pwned....

J to hates Hoya with a passion. I personally think both are equal. Quiet as kept bob is putting out some decent fights.

Don't act like Manny is the only fighter in history to have ever done this. Manny wasn't the first I'm sure, and he won't be the last for certain, that has signed with two promotional companies at the same time.

This was posted by BPP yesterday, regarding Victor Ortiz:

"I'll say this. The last time a Top Rank fighter claimed to be a free agent and jumped to Golden Boy was Victor Ortiz. Arum claimed he was still under contract. Ortiz claimed he was a free agent. Top Rank sued Golden Boy and won. Now Top Rank gets a percentage of the revenue in every Ortiz fight."

And Victor was born in the U.S. and speaks fluent English, so atleast Manny and Chavez Jr. have a little excuse. Now, Chavez Jr. seems to think he's a free agent, while Arum claims to still have YEARS left on the contract between them.

What I don't understand is - if a fighter is claiming to be a free agent and signs with two different promotional companies at the same time, why wouldn't the fighter be responsible to pay both companies out of his own pocket? For instance, if GBP says that Chavez repeatedly told them (when asked) that he was under no other contract, and signs with them in good faith, and it turns out that it's not true - how is it that GBP (or vise versa) would be responsible to pay another PR company? I would think that percentage would come out of the fighters earnings.

Very insightful piece. Anybody know when Pac's contract is up with Top Rank...and if it is soon, does that mean the co-contract with Golden Boy is over as well - So maybe then they can get back to co-promoting events - without having to share that particular revenue...?

BoxingScenery, an answer from the lawsuit.

Pacquiao's initial contract ran through November of this year but has probably been extended.

                      From the complaint:

TR gained the exclusive right to promote Pacquiao’s bouts through November 30, 2010. On information and belief, Pacquiao, M-P and TR have agreed to the terms of a contract extension for a number of years.
