If you use that kind of logic, you can say pretty much every amazing shot in history was a "lucky" punch.

Which is true, it's just that Alvarez got somewhat shook up by a much smaller guy, which raises doubts about his ability to last with an opponent his own size who can punch well and can find his chin. There's still some polish to be applied to Canelo's style, he's hittable for Shane right now I think.

Why do people like to forget that Shane was involved in a nasty clash of heads before that? i have never seen him come anywhere near to being stopped apart from that

I think the two-piece (mainly the accuracy of the right hand) had more to do with it, myself.

Anyway M.I.B what Im saying is that just because Cotto caught him good doesnt mean everytime he gets hard he'll crumble. Thats all Im saying. Like I said sometimes you just get hit with a good punch.

I think Alvarez can take Shane out. I could see if vs. Mora he showed some power but I didnt even see that. I mean Mora was laughing at him.

I think the bold is an illusionary thing. He couldn't get leverage on shots against a rangey, 'slick' (ie. cyclist) Mora - against Alvarez, a more flat-footed guy, a guy his own size, a guy he'll get more opportunity to punch with, a very green guy still despite his packed record, I can see Shane getting off with the discombobulating effect of old.


It's only a fight ago that he had Floyd rocked. Your power is the last thing to go...Mayweather beat Shane up, but I doubt he beat his punch out of him.
