No I don't. Promoters find a way to not make a big fight, engage in a PR war so that they keep their respective fighters fans. Divide all the fans so that instead of them being upset the fight isn't made they are debating who is at fault for the negotiations, and then matching their fighter up with an in house name or 'belt holder' that's a much weaker fight. Top Rank and Golden Boy do it ALL the time. Gamboa and Juan Ma are fighting weak comp compared to Caballero. Pacquiao should be fighting Paul Williams at 150, instead he's fighting a guy Paul beat. Mayweather cherry picks old, shot guys like Mosley (another fight I didn't support) and Pacquiao fights another in house weaker opponent in Clottey. It's a disgrace.

respect. when the government fears the people we have liberty, when the people fear the government we have tyranny. No I don't. You are dead ****ing wrong. It's the promoters who make the choices, they dont care what the fans want.
For example, On the Boxing Truth a while back Ricardo noticed that there was a poll on Top Ranks website asking who Pac should fight next, with Tim Bradley winning by over a thousand votes. Bob Arum had said many times that Bradley wasnt a candidate because he wasn't popular enough. So Ricardo called Bob Arum and asked him if he knew about the poll on his own company's website, and Bob freaked out and hung up on him.
The poll was taken down...That is the state of boxing.
The fans want the fights. The promoters just wont make the matchups.Last edited by paulf; 09-24-2010, 01:49 AM.Comment

Who cares?? The fans would have ended up making racist comments to both and if the fight fell apart blaming the other side instead of joining up and raining down problems on BOTH promoters and fighters. I don't know how people can't grasp this. You are missing the point. OF COURSE the promoters don't want to make competitive fights with other promotional companies. But the FANS give them a pass and fall for the divide and conquer routine!!!You are dead ****ing wrong. It's the promoters who make the choices, they dont care what the fans want.

boxing is in bad shape because fighters can make it big and make big money without fighting the best. noone wants to test themselves anymore not even manny or he wouldnt fight with catchweights or floyd or waits till last minute to fight people. one fighters get at a certain point they worry about the money and not the risk not to prove whos the best.
and its getting worst because you got guys like ward and dirrel and alexander and bradley who are champions but not in the big league just yet trying to call shots. next thing you know we will see contenders not even champions trying to call shots. i mean peterson could have fought soto for the title instead he fights for a interm instead and still lose. like holifield for quiie with what liek 12 fights under his belt to become champion. the state of boxing is bad because we have SOFT boxers in a blood and guts sport. plain and simple. there still a few that put it down and willing to prove themselves.
but the ones that count thats in the limelight are too barbii like it makes boxing look bad.
promoters also are making it bad by milking their fighters and stables instead of putting the best matches forward. maybe they see something we dont and feel it isnt right yet. but we know they about money frst.
and finally the sanction bodies are prob biggest to blame. you can be the champion without beating the champion. now we have some divvisions with like 3 wbc champions. you got the champion the super champion the diamond the silver the interm. like why too much confusion and too much glory for someone who didnt earn it.
you got manny and margirito fighting for a vacent title that neither deserves at a catchweight. thats whats wrong with boxing.Comment

Ok, watch the fights in november... Stop crying people, STOP SAYING BOXING IS DYING WHEN WE GET ALL THESE GREAT PPV NUMBERS???
That UFC is an evolved sport - all knows that? It doesn't steal our fans, we share them. we still do almost record high ppv numbers, and get great fights. Competition from UFC is only making the sport better ;-)
I love it!Comment

Boxing is in rough shape because there are too many ****ing divas and the promoters are more crooked than my elbow.
You have guys like Williams, Berto, Khan, Mayweather and Pac thinking they are more important than they are.
They get paid too much, do too little and don't take the fights that they are meant to.Comment
