Am I the Only One Who Notices?

Aside from the hardcore boxing fan, many in the general public seem to share two misconceptions:

Myth: Shane is a great boxer.
Fact: Shane is a HOF fighter. Shane IS NOT a great boxer, he IS however a great slugger. I'll go further and say I actually had Mayorga ahead of Shane on points after the 10th. There is no excuse for that.

Myth: Pacquiao is a slugger!
Fact: Pacquiao is NOT a slugger. Pacquiao is a VOLUME PUNCHER and a southpaw who possesses one punch KO power in his left. I don't think he is a serious threat to KO somebody with his right hand.

Maybe I'm wrong, but please tell me if I am. Thanks!

I define my terms as follows:

BOXERS- Ali, Whitaker, Floyd (note that some fall in between this category and a slugger such as ODLH, Floyd, Ali, and pretty much anybody with the exception of the Malignaggis of the world)
VOLUME PUNCHERS- Paul Williams, Antonio Margarito, Manny Pacquiao
SLUGGERS-Joe Frazier, Ray Mercer, Ernie Shavers, Mike Tyson, Shane Mosley.

his jab is pure garbage and his footwork is suspect. definitely not a great boxer I would agree with what you said except that Shane can box some and is better then most heavyhitters in that department

True! Shane's combination of speed, and ring smarts, make him a DECENT boxer. Nowhere near the kind of boxer as Sergio Martinez, Floyd Mayweather and take your pick of the list of the greatest pure boxers of all time. Shane can't compete at this level and stands a PUNCHER'S CHANCE.

As for Shane, he's a boxer/puncher.. not a "great" boxer, he used to have a good jab but now he kinda uses it as a range finder and it's pretty much has turn to ****... I always liked Merchants assessment of mosley calling him a "power boxer"

Shane's not a very good technically but he can fight his ass off...and he has elite level handspeed and a good work ethic...

shane never really had a good jab.
and i disagree with the power boxer label. shane is a fast brawler.
