Amir should apply for U.S. citizenship. We love a winner. Doesn't matter where he/she is from. He'll encounter some BS. Everybody does. But he'll assimilate faster and more comfortably here.
Some of what you say has merit regarding the identity crisis that is occurring in Great Britain. But have some compassion. The Brits did the best they could in freeing the subject nations of their empire when it came time to do so. So if some of the lines weren't drawn as well as they could have been...so what? The folks in charge at the time were human too.
Our British siblings are under siege by a sad combination of mature Western social conscience and militant-****** expansionism. They can ruthlessly and without apology, crush the threat . This is what the Russians would do today and what the British used to do and what we should but won't do (as we are now a matriarchy). Or they can do as they usually do (and for which I have undying admiration): keep calm and carry on and everything will probably end up British, enlightened and free. As it has ever been and should be.
Having said that, the U.S. still does a good job of absorbing various cultures. AK would be able to live comfortably and focus on realizing his potential. Racism still exists here, but it is practiced equally by all sides and only by a loud, idiotic, minority that can mostly be overcome w/o undue stress.
I would welcome him as a citizen as long as he jumped through the appropriate bureaucratic hoops.
