I agree that guys like Berto, Dawson etc seem to be given a pass on HBO to fight sub par opposition but I guess they bring in more viewing figures or something and there must be a financial reason.
Calzaghe fought bums for 10 years and as soon as he stepped up HBO showed him 3 times without qualm. I also agree Cleverly would go down a treat on HBO although I think he is at least a year away from a showdown with Pascal, Dawson or Cloud.
Alexander Frenkel is unproven at the moment and to be honest doesn't exactly have any star quality. Marco Huck and his horrendous technique is just downright abysmal to watch - he should be consigned to ESPN 2 for all I care.
But seriously though, I don't really see why HBO would put any of these Eastern Europeans on... noone in America cares. They want to see Americans and Europeans who can actually fight without looking like an epileptic at a strobe light convention (e.g., Huck) or stinking out an entire arena (e.g., Wlad numerous times).
Anyway - summary: The good ones with some star quality seem to get on HBO/Showtime etc and that's all fine by me (Abraham, Adamek, Froch, Khan etc...).
