Comments Thread For: Roman Martinez-Luis Cruz in The Works For Dec. 11

If the fighters are willing to do it, there could be a very attractive battle between hard-hitting Puerto Rican super featherweights Luis "El Artesano" Cruz (16-0, 13KOs) and Roman "Rocky" Martinez (24-1, 15KOs). Carlos Gonzalez reports that Miguel Cotto Promotions and PR Best Boxing Promotions are discussing the possible fight for December 11 in Bayamon.

Not a big fan of Martinez. Vastly overrated! I never seen Luis but I hear he's good. Hopefully it does go down. Why are you against PR vs PR? Artesano by KO

Cruz's assessment is correct, he should have at least two more rough fights before going after someone like Rocky. Cruz has better boxing skills than Rocky and I believe he also has more power but we all know Rocy is relentless. He will come forward no matter what. He actually fights a more typical Mexican style than a typical Puerto Rican style.

If this fight ever happens it should be a good one.

Still haven't been able to see him live, but from his fights I don't think he is ready yet. Not saying he can't win but Rocky is a tough opponent for somebody with limited experience no matter how talented that fighter is. Personally I hope they go seperate ways for now but I admit that that might just be not wanting neither of the fighters to have a setback in their development. Rocky is what he is and he'll win another title but Cruz is still coming into his own boxing-wise.

Before Rocky lost, Cruz & his team were already talking about facing Rocky after the Burns fight..But since Rocky lost the title now it seems like Cruz & his team are not interested in fighting Rocky anymore..I guess Cruz thinks it's too risky for not having the title on the line..Cruz has shown better boxing skills & a way better defense than Rocky, but against softer opposition...While Rocky does have more experience & especially against better opposition..

I'm suprised that Martinez is still sticking with 130. He looked drained against Burns, i thought it'd be wise to move up to 135 in his next fight.

That's not true...Cruz said we wanted to face him but he always pointed towards 2011 for the same reason he stated above.

As stated above, Rocky did look drained in the Burns fight and he seemed to tire out rather easily.
