Very raw version of Martinez. First time I saw the fight I was really scared for him after the first KD.

When was the last time he was stopped by a pressure fighter?

If you have ever seen the actual fight, Martinez looked like a deer in the headlights, fighting backwards - he didn't have a proper response to Margarito's pressure.

      ^^^^^ The result of inexperience.

He grew exponentially after that loss, fighting scrubs here and there, gaining essentially experience. That's why he remained undefeated 'till the Williams loss.

The Margarito fight was a huge step in class for Sergio, and notice the sudden drop in level of opposition, following the fight. Martinez' handlers realised they couldn't afford to rush his career.

      Simple logic my friend.
Bold: Sure, my guess is before you did...Martinez looked good the first few rounds, moving well, countering, and showing the much faster hands.

Margo then started to turn it up on him. And stopped him.

About having the same issues with pressure fighters: Martinez looked to gas in the Margo fight. As he looked to gas in the Williams fight. He also looked winded as Pavlik staterd to pressure him.

Now back to what this is all about: Don't question my boxing knowledge, it is there. You really sound like nothing more than a Boxingrec scub right now...

Not to metion, you got completely off topic. I stated that Martinez was the favorite, he was. If you feel he wasn'tm that is fine. Facts are, you probaly did even see the fight when it happened, so stop acting like some sort of snob.

Martinez almost died in the first round.

Martinez did seem to gas out in the last few rounds vs Williams, but he did not fold, due to inexperience like he did vs Margarito

Martinez did look to gas in the Pavlik fight, but he was able to adjust and turned the fight on its head in the 9th round - the product of experience, something which a 'very green' version of Martinez who fought Margarito did not have.

^^^^^^ You seem to miss that point, completely. MARTINEZ WAS GREEN.

You keep harping on about Martinez being the consensus favourite at the time. That is nothing more than a hypothesis based on hype, more than anything else.

Martinez was fighting scrubs before he was thrown in with Margarito. The step up in the level of class from his previous opponents proved too much; add on to the fact Margarito is a relentless pressure fighter, whom Martinez had no answer for.

I have kept on topic, and responded to every plebeian point you have generated, thus far. Your entire argument is centred around the point that Martinez was the favourite going into the fight, whereas my arguments are based on the observation that Martinez was extremely green and inexperienced and had not fought a pressure fighter like Margarito before.

Now, take that as you will.

My initial post was in response to your claim that Martinez was overrated. Then I proceeded to present you with the fact, Martinez handily disposed of Cintron whom Williams struggled with for the 4 rounds of their fight.

In essence, it is not an accurate gauge to make but the comparison was there to make.

If you claim Martinez is overrated, than so is P. Williams.

              Capiche?
Capiche! I know everyone has their own opinion, haha and I take alot of heat for saying that about Martinez, from my friends. But its simply my opinion. Not saying its accurate.

That was all I even wanted to state in this topic...

I have been pretty much entertaining your argument...Just in case you haven't noticed.

Also, I will agree that Margo had fighters with better records on his resume, but nothing that wouldn't indicate he was far more advanced in his game than Martinez...

Margo had maybe 5 or 6 fighters with good records on his resume..

                    If memory serves-

Martinez had about 4 or 5...

That is not a huge difference. To you maybe, not to me.

And I don't know why HBO was on his nuts saying he has superb stamina. I've seen him gas out in his last 2 fights.
